:( i miss my trike named tickles... he just up and vanished one day when he was right behind me.... so sad... trikes are very useful as movers / defenders.

course my lvl 32 turtle does a pretty good job of defending me too, but he's sooo slow and is constantly yapping at me to slow down. turtle does good if you have to travel water alot. can carry a good amount of weight (250ish default) and defend themselves pretty good.

bronto's seem the best though if your relocating, but can get stuck on trees rather easily, most rocks they don't have issues with, unless of course its by a cliff, they like to fall off cliffs...

if you want an average dinosaur to use, go for a Trike, fairly easy to tame and carry a lot
argt leveld for carry copacity > anything else

Depends on what tier you're at. Fresh spawn? Get a phiomia or two, or a pack of dilos. Middle tier? Trikes, stegos, and turtles. High tier? Argentavis' for long journeys under 300 pounds, (or get a skyfleet), Brontos (for shorter journeys or journeys over 1k pounds), and pretty much anything can carry a small amount.

Just not Sky Dilos. (Dimorphodons.)

A mid-leveled trike can easily hit 600lbs. High level is 1000+
Go with T-Rex or Spino, they both are amazing for weight and can easily defend yourself while you gather what ever you need. ((1 of each do the job easily and can carry way too many lol)

For the mid range dino, theres the Stego, Mammoth, Trike and the Carno, amazingly strong, good weight carry too.

And for low range dino, Go with Turtle, they will also be great for your start underwater with oil, crystal and pearl. (For sure, you will also need the recipe of lazarus)

All those dino can carry good amount of weight and got good speed, they will follow you easily and defend you with no problem (except the turtle that are a bit slow, i always boost them to 199% speed)

Edit:
- Avoid Bird to carry your mats (except if you put them on passive, saw too many of them flying away after a ''running away'' dino
- Bronto is good... but way too slow, keep him on a good berries spot, put a saddle on him and use it to gather all the berries your going to need ! (No need to move it anymore once on a good spot)

mammoths, argens, bronto, carno and rex can carry a descent amount and has the bonus of being a guard.

I would much rather have two rexes follow me than one bronto. The same carry capacity, much faster, and more protection while carrying it. For my metal expeditions I now take 3 argentavis and two rexes. Mammoth would be good, but it gets stuck too easily.

Ankylo, raptor, saber, ptera, spino have very low carry capacity.

Argentavis is amazing with some levels in weight. I've got one dedicated to freighter duty with maxed carry weight and he can fly 700 pounds across the map at a reasonable speed. Have to stop for stamina breaks quite a bit since the nerf, though.
tame higher :P
my argentivis came with 2600 stamina :D

Stego and bronto are good but incredibly slow so not worth is imo. The trike is a good dino to start with (if you're too low lv get a phiomia as a pack mule, don't waste engrams on learning the saddle though). After that get a mammoth as soon as possible ;D

Trikes can, just level them up for ''Weight'' than you should be good.
Also the stegosarus and this small guy with spikes is decent!

Probably a bronto, if you need to carry a lot. I know Dillos can carry packs for you.
Yeah but many people are lvl 10-40 soooo don't think thats gonna happen atm.

The little spiky ones (ankylosaur) are terrible pack mules compared to the trike and mammoth. Tamed a lv 28 ankylo, it could only carry 250, my trike could carry 280 at lv 14.

Trike is the first dino I usually train. They are quick and easy to train, gather narco berries easy(once you get the saddle), move fast enough when you aren't on them, knockback saves you from pretty much any dino.

I keep em around until I get a mammoth.

Then an argent for metal late game.

Get their HP up to at least 1k to start then spam weight. Once they hit 1k weight I put the rest back into HP.

Before one of the last patches I had a spider with about 24k :)

Why did you feel the need to post that in an almost 1yr old thread?

Lol this is necro at its finest. 1 year later, best dino for weight/size would be rhino IMO. Only thing that sux is that he always walks right into you when following.
...one year?

And nobody mentioned quetzal, that's just hylarious.
