Any chance there is an underwater cave nearby that island? seems like those gonna be the reliable source of oil. wonder if i can build inside those.
You are in luck, 1 underwater cave directly north east of the surface cave entrance! Take a dip down every few hours, gather some oil and pearls and get back to "monster island" (as the devs call it). The cave is to the top right on the map at 06.3 / 89.7. As for building in there though, a lot of the underwater caves can tend to be small. You can certainly build some supply boxes and what not though!
Although I responded to this on the guide as well, I'll say it here for the people in the post too. It does seem to be a massive rendering issue on caves which causes them to pop in and out. It seems in some cases, the caves are just permanently invisible for people.
This issue was said to be fixed in one of the patch notes ("- Fixed invisible ocean caverns") but it seems not. It can certainly cause a headache!
Rude much? He simply wanted to create a complete map of current cave locations for those who want such a map. Why is it a problem if he decided to do it?
Its not like he said "Oh look at me I uncovered the entire map, Im so good and I am the best player there is!!!" He simply created something that doesn't exist currently for the players that want a detailed map.
If you are looking at that ledge like in the image, go to that side and go to the very right near to where the green line starts. Youll find the path start between a narrow opening between 2 rocks.
For clarification, I went and got this image: http://puu.sh/ihOyI/a850ee76f1.jpg
I was stood over the other side when I took the first image. Im stood at the start of the path down at this point.
this makes it almost impossible to find underwater caves especially, i walk looking for this cave for like 3 hours and it was right in front of me the whole time.
No but seriously why isn't there a cave there for me? Did the Devs remove all caves as of update 17.6? I've looked in 3 different locations for surface caves according to this map and can't find any of them.
