Yup, they're in the oceans! Just look for oily rocks releasing grossness into the water. ;-)

just found some near my base at lat 90 lon 20, its 1 rock and spits black lines into the ocean. I used my pick and it gave me 2 stones. -.- metal pick is definitely not how you harvest or I was unlucky.

EDIT More up the coast to the north, 1 rock. Used my metal hachet this time and got 1 oil, 2 rocks. Is it supposed to be this... slow? gathering oil?

RNGesus wasn't with you. Always use the MetalPick for rare resources.

Haha okay, I'll try my metal pick again then.

EDIT: Nope, used pick 2 more, 0 oil and 5 stone total. Getting more oil with my hachet.

RE-EDIT Used it again and got 3 oil, 0 stone.. So far the ratio with hachet is best at 1 per rather then 3 per 3 from the pick.

Found tons in the deep ocean, no way to get them without dieing though, there some diving gear?

lat 30 lon 11 for at least 8 oil nodes, all are really deep though.

EDIT: Also just an FYI about that area, the land there seems to be glitchy and disappear and reappear constantly.

Hey I made a thread awhile ago and I was wondering are you guys ever going to add psudo tar pits on land filled with bitumen or do you guys want to keep the oil deposits in the water. On land they would be dangerous as well due to a movement debuff that could be added when walking near the psudo tar pits. Also besides just rock you could add spoiled meat and bones as obtainable resources if you ever add various bone items.

Personally I'm liking the big crocodiles more, they work better as a pair, male/female, than the sharks.

Ugh, I'm jealous. I went pterasaur hunting with my bow and tranq arrows. The first pterasaur went down after one arrow (thought it flew a ways before it dropped). I got to it and started taming it, then a dilo attacked it. I tried to use a spear to kill the dilo and wound up accidentally killing the pterasaur too. I pressed on, and about 30-40 min later, I found another one near the beach. I shot it, it flew away towards the open ocean, then fell into the ocean a short ways off the beach - and promptly drowned about 30 seconds after I reached it. Never saw another one again after that.

Lol, peasant with the pteradon! Nah just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with you, a better flying mount (in case you wanted to know) would be the argentavis. Flies faster than the pteradon, also looks a lot better, can only be found atop hills and mountains. The best ground mount I can think of is the Spinosaurus, doubles as a sea mount if you want to use it as that. Best sea mount would have to be the Plesiosaur. But onto your actual question, where to find oil, oil spots can be found all over the map, I would link a picture but I cant seem to find one, I think oil is more common the farther north you go. But apart from that I cant help much, hope I helpe
