Port Forwarding Help! With Netgear
I've tried just about everything I can possibly think of and I just cannot get the ports 7777 or 27015..... I have a netgear router and a Comtrend CT-5071T modem (which I cannot log into)...

I done this before no problem, I've followed various website instructions and here is an image to show you http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/WNR2000v3/WNR2000v33.jpg

I've tried port triggering, tried just TCP and just UnDP, even tuungle now longer works.... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

i have the same problem
Portfording is actually easy, when you do what I've done and forwarded the correct ports and still not working, the main reason is going to be on the modems end (which most of us never get access to because ISP's don't like the end user to have control over their modems) so we don't get the password for admin controls to open up the ports there. You normally have to call your ISP to either ask for the admin login information, or get them to do it for you. The only piece of software I've found that bypasses both router + modem port blocks are Tuungle and Hamachi.

This post is very old and I can confirm now as I've been using it for years! that Tuungle does indeed work.

Always reset your router after port-forwarding. I usually disconnect mine for 3 minutes after a port-forward.

If you have just a modem, there should be no port blocking capability there as it's just a gateway. If you have the kind of modem that's a combo modem/router and you have your own router, then you're behind 2 routers and firewalls. This could cause strange behavior. The modem/router usually has a setting called gateway/passthrough mode where it shuts down it's router functionality. You should use this if you can. If the modem/router is behind a password you can usually reset it to factory default where the admin account and password is admin/admin or admin/<nothing>.

That is true, but then you loose the internet PPP and POP settings which only the ISP knows in order to get the internet back. I personally have 1 modem an 1 router which both are behind password protected firewalls, the only one i can edit is the router, but its blocked on the modems side I know this cause I've tested it and ISP's are known to block ports for "security" issues heh.. but if you happen to know all your settings for the modem then yeah, go ahead and reset it so you can get into it to change firewall settings and what not. Most people will be locked out of knowing those settings though. I'm not sure if there are DOS commands in the cmd-promt you can use to find out, but usually thats just knowing gateway and ip addresses, not the other stuff... (that I know of anyway)
