Want to build a tower, can't build higher, what gives
So i'm trying to build a tower into my fort.. And so far it's three wooden walls high, but I can't stack them higher anymore. So I figured, let's put in a wooden hatchframe.. but that doesn't work either.

It says I need ''Nearby foundation support''.

I'm not quite sure what it's pointing at. Is it simply telling me you can't build a wooden tower or do I have to add something else first? Since I can't put a wooden hatchframe either..

Are you trying to build a hatch frame in the air?

Try adding a roof on it. it should allow you to build a higher tower

Nope, it's connecting itself on top of the 4 walls, but it tells me I need nearby foundation support.

As you can see it's not even high.

Pretty sure foundation can only be built on the ground or via support beams. Something to support it.

Try going floor by floor?
TheRightHand Jun 5, 2015 @ 6:01pm
You can try one of two things:

Relog, which may not be possible if you're on a full server.
Or try destroying the bottom part of the wall, and building up again (I know this is cumbersome, sorry!)

We'll investigate the issue further.

- The Right Hand.

If you can build 3 up but no further now I suppose you could widen it as you go up. I haven't attempted to build verticly at all so I have no idea, but based on the info you've given you may be able to get further up by expanding out the bottom floors.

For example you could go 6 high by making a 3x3 set of rooms 3 high with a 1x1 set 3 high centered on top of the 3x3. 9 high would just continue the trend starting with 5x5 > 3x3 > 1x1. Whether or not that will work I have no idea, but maybe worth a go if you want a tall tower?

Just found out it was only one side of the wall that was being difficult, the other three were possible. I just put another wall inside of the said problemsome wall. This fixed it, appreciate your help. :) Thought it was just a mistake on my side haha.

I just made it taller. It was one wall that was simply bugging out. I replaced it and now I can build higher, but the hatched frame still won't connect. That's what i'm dealing with atm.

I see you build on fence foundations, so I think the walls is not perfectly aligned.
Build the tower on a solid foundation instead.

Build as high as u can .put in the hatch frame and ladder .Then when up ladder place a wooden walkway panel walk the plank and then you will have enough angle to bild the next level .Just demolihs all the walk way sections when done .I built a tower 37 walls high and gave up going any higher when got bored so sute could gone a lot higher

As APOD said, it looks like you used fence foundations; only walls/doorframes can be built up from them. If you want ceilings/hatchframes on top of those walls, you need to use a full foundation at the bottom instead.

Hope this helps.

Old thread, new posts....

You can just use pillars and ceilings and put ladders on the outside. No foundation or walls or hatchframes needed.
