Your Spear Broke...
I would really love to hear the Devs thoughts about what the thinking about spear breakage percentage is.
4 spear breaking with 4 hits, pretty much makes them useless. Due to the weight of them, it's not viable to carry 20 spears at all times.
What is the "Starter to level 15" weapon supposed to be? Since it's not really doable to use anything else, especially when dark/poisoned/.

What is the current percentage? 80% chance of breaking?

I actually agree with this, Spears are breaking way too incredibly fast, I actually broke my spear the other day swinging at air, that's a little messed up,.

have you tried using the right mouse button? It lets you throw spears and they happen to break less from what I've seen when throwing them.

I actually think it depends highly on what you did with it.

Sometimes my spears last for ages, sometimes I get things happening like what you describe.

I mainly notice, the spears tend to break when I miss my target and hit rocks or the ground.

dinos seems to have hard/soft spots. If you hit the turtle in its shell the spear have more chances of breaking than when you hit a soft spot of the same turtle.

throwing the spears is a little more efficient. They do not break and you can usually pick them back up in my experience.

I carry a slingshot and 6 throwing spears.

Slingshots are great for high health things. You can back peddle turtles and Anklos pretty easily, then just finish them with your axe.

I use the spears for dilos. Usually it only takes one or two to kill one, and you can often recover them afterwards.

I definitely agree with the strategical spots for spearing, harder or softer and think it should be that way, however, as I said in a previous reply, taking a stab at air and having my spear splinter on me is quite overkill, that or I really need to stop making spears out of Styrofoam.

I've fired spears at a giant turtles head which appeared to do absolutely nothing and I fired like 16 of them lol...
