I'm currently in the process of experimenting. I have a dodo egg on me. If you just drop it, it will expire in like 5 mins. But if you put it in your inventory.....it all the sudden spoils in 48 HOURS. So I'm thinking that this "spoil" might mean it hatches. Or it could just mean that it spoils and disappears. But it's write up says
"Eat it to gain tremendous nourishment, or use it in recipes, or...." So I'm curious on the last part.

And it's 48 hours of game time if you're in your own lobby.
Buddy, everything spoils longer in your inventory, ♥♥♥♥ on the ground spoils in 5 mins, spoils in like a day in your inventory, it's how they keep ground clutter from lagging the server afaik.

From what I've seen babies arent added like dice pointed out, ignore the "or ..." at the end for now, simply food and a way to piss off dinos currently.

Best guess is that there will be an incubator type engram you can unlock later in the tech tree when the other modern-ish tech starts unlocking (Level 40 or so) that you can incubate the eggs in to hatch pre-tamed dino's. Right now they're just a food source.

I just put 2 Dodo Eggs in the Dodo's inventory. the time went from 1:23:59:59 (1 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds) to 7:23:59:59 (1 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds). its a long time, will see what happens.

Mine just expired today. Just dissappeared. I think they're just for food right now. Althought idk why anyone would carry it around with them. The egg I had was 20 lbs! But no baby dinos yet. :[

Aw damn, I just found grabbed a Bronto Egg and it's not even useful yet? Sucks....
lavaheart 24. juni 2015 kl. 22.55
eat it it will hatch in your stomach.

(also in keeping eggs for breeding update if you put eggs in the late game fridge they last QUITE long enough to be ready for that update haha I think my friend said something like 180 days for his dodo eggs or something)

The most recent Ark Digest post which is pinned in the discussions page mentions that the big thing they're working on right now is breeding and raising your own dinos, plus being able to tame dinos without punching them out first. Right now the eggs are just for food and AI but they will have a bigger purpose soon.
