Trees....
I have yet to see trees grow back... I cut them down and it seems they are gone forever.

They do grow back, it just takes a while.

About 5-6 real hours and they regrow in the area.

A very very very long time I think it's around 8 hours right now give or take a little bit, right now my friends and I feel like we're playing Amazonian Deforestation Lumberjacks... I say that as it's currently a 5 min hike to the nearest trees for us.

Trees take years to grow in real life, so 5-6 hours isn't that bad is it?

it's horrible, we are an impatient generation man. we need our wood.

I like the system as it stands, because it allows a sense of impact on the general ecology. You sense people have come through a area and clear cut the place. Which is a good sign your on someones established territory. In my case a sign to move on by since I am a nomad of sorts. The other interesting impact is, there are now fields in the place of forest. So easier hunting and easier chances to see people heading towards your base.I say keep it!

It depends on how often you're building in the area/moving around. If you set up a fenced off area, the trees won't grow back at all (so long as you're walking around)

Yea but you dont chop down a tree in real life with 1-4 hits with a stone hatchet either ya goof.

Also note they won't grow back if you're nearby, and they won't grow back if there are structures very very nearby (don't want a tree regrowing through your house now, do you?!) ;)

I really like this feature. It seems like the small trees grow back faster than the larger ones, and we have completely cleared out the forests near the beach trying to build a wooden base. It makes me very conscious of the terrain. It also makes me want to tame a bunch of paras or trikes to act as beasts of burden to carry wood from far off forests, so we don't completely murder ALL the large trees in the area.

There is no such thing as a long hike with a raptor

Can you give us more information about this?

How far away do we have to be for a tree to grow back?
And how does it work exactly - if I walk too close to a tree's spawn point, will the 'grow back' timer reset? Or will the timer just pause until I move further away?

Thanks!
