how long do bodies and backpacks remain after death?
i have layed on several servers. sometimes when i die my body or backpack hangs around a while. often it totaly disapears. whats the devs rules on backpacks. if i keep loosing everything after every death i am going to quit as the game is pointless. no way to level when your starting from scratch 20 times a day.

Your stuff stays for around 5min or so.

Most of the time its enough time to run back to pick it up.

But if you\re looking for no kill on sight server, feel free to join

That's how it is for me as well...about about 10 or so straight argentavis, with a few megalodono or smilo deaths thrown in, i just give up on the corpse backpack and start from scratch...but i do hope change in in the air

I've had a really rough time recovering my stuff after dying (single player server so no other players to worry about). For example, I know I've gotten to my corpse within 5 minutes, but nothing is there. (died to a shark attack not far from where i respawned, very short run over).

I ended up building my main base not far from the beach I always spawn on so it's a short run back to my house, which I've built chests to hold useful replacement things and spare ingredients. This gives you a bit of a start after dying, if you can't recover your things. Also, having shorter to run means less chance of somethign killing you on the way =)

Also invest in the sleeping bag / bed too. This'll save you from even having to respawn on the beach.

15 minutes I think is the official amount.
