Select your folder and press "delete"
Regarding your question, you can't just Ctrl + C/V, you have to do it manually.
UPDATE: It seems I found a way. Just find the "Show all" and uncheck it.
Uncheck that box and all your recipes will be listed in folders instead.
Note: If you close the inventory/craftables widows when in a folder, it will only show that folder and any sub folders next time you open the craftables, but none of the folders "above".
To get around this problem, just check and uncheck again the "show all" box.

I tried doing it the same way you tried here making my own folders, then I discovered this purely by chance and have used it ever since.
Saved me allot of frustration.
