Blinding Sun Glare
The sun glare is insane, if im headign with the sun behind me, my map is completly white for several degrees. And when im inside my house, even when it is fully closed, windows and doors closed, i still see this eye straining bright glare in oen area, everytiem i turn around and see it, it feels like im startin into the actual sun, it hurts my eyes. Ive tried alterign the settings to see if somethign affects it, but nothing.

I'm not experiencing this at all so the idea that you've tried fiddling with settings to absolutely no avail is a little odd to me. Did you try messing with the lighting settings? With the sky quality?

ive tried fiddling with all manor of settings, but nothing helps, whenever the sun is behind me, my map in unreadable

I get this too. Map is bright white and I have to turn for the sun to come off it and I can read it. Also if I look out at sea all I can see is the sun in my eyes.

I bet we could signal N.A.S.A with the sun reflection off our map. It's crazy with the sun behind you, like a mini sun itself.

Agree with OP as well

I agree and would like to add another point related. My wife and I went exploring one of the caves, I had a metal hatchet out after chopping up a scorpion and she equipped her torch for light. The glare from the torch onto the hatchett literally took up half my screen in pure light. The specularity of this game is off the charts. An adjustment, or even a slider to adjust it yourself woudl be greatly appreciated

Yeap it is horribly painful to your eyes on Monitors

I agree, something might have gotten messed up in a patch cause recently I spawned in on a beach and most of my screen was white from the immense glare.

You can turn Bloom off via INI edits.
ArkEnhancer can do these for you

I've been complaining about the light since day one. What's crazy about this is that if you look around you can't find the light source and it's not from the sun. This happens mostly across the water and the light is blinding to the point that the sea can hardly be seen.
