Hey, I have a dumb question about taming animals
So I've been playing solo and concentrating on building a house, and I haven't even gotten around to looking at other stuff.

But how do you knock an animal out? Everytime I kill something I just get a dead animal.

Punch it in the face a bunch.

(or slingshot)

punch him or shoot him with a slingshot , and then feed them constantly while punching him to keep him asleep until he is tamed or dead

ok thanks all. going to go try that now.

Narcoberries. Lots of narcoberries.
punch it. then put regular berries in alongside 30-50 narcoberries and then watch the uncontious meter. when it drops below half go into its inventory , click the narcoberries, and remote use item button should light up.

Punching to keep it sleeping is actually a very bad idea. Like DonAdi says, use narcoberries. Punching it will get the effectiveness down, which makes the taming take longer quickly!

You will need tranq arrows to get thoes guys, the arrows are attainable at lvl 20, the bow at 15. You also need a mortar and pestle and narcotics to learn tranq arrows, as well as normal arrows.

to keep dinos asleep you use narcoberries for the planteaters and narcotics for the meat eaters (narcotics are made from spoilt meat and narcoberries so the planteaters dont like these)

Noob (Punch) Novice (Slingshot-Tranq Arrows) Pro (Chuck Norris)

But yeah just when you can learn tranq arrows they require narcotics to make so make that aswell and your golden.

Effectiveness doesn't make it take longer to tame. It reduces the level bonus you get after tame.
