Animal hide
Playing in solo and having a very hard time finding hide. Is there a trick to it similar to using a hatchet on a tree instead of a pick yields more wood? If so, what do I use on the dead animal to yield more hide?

Aha im subscribibng to this one lol lets hope someone has an answer .. 80 hides? ive been to 45 before but 80 just for a stupid parasaur one and not even possible getting the 110 hides for a raptor...

Axe, although it isn't a dramatic increase. I never seem to get hide with a pick.

I've tried both and haven't noticed a difference, really, but I keep seeing people say go with the axe so I tend to just default to using the hatchet on bodies.

Kilogaust is correct. Axe for hide, Pick for meat.

but the pickaxe yield more tatch while the hatchet yield more wood so i dunno
axe for hide pick for meat, tho not much difference with stone tools, you see a bigger one when using metal

Axe for more hide, turtles and the first creature mount can yield a lot of hide. I have also noticed if you start to tame a Dilo but run out of meat (give it a nice stack of meat) before you can tame it completely. (meter was half way) There seems to be the chance of additional hides. When I killed one it yielded 9 hide.

I used a sling shot on the turtle and went for head shots. Takes about 10+ shots to down it. Hatchet the rest of the life away and get them hides! It was also level 2. Those things are nothing to mess with in melee.

Thats the truth i have never made a slingshot.. probably wont either i have my bow which required the slingshot to make but again never actually made one. im waiting for the tranq arrows as ive found a few randomly on corpses and stuff so they have to be makable =p Not trying to make excuses just further the challenge for myself i guess =/
