I agree this should act like a water butt that many ppl have at home to collect rainwater, it should hold a ton more water. For those that are not very close to water it would be ideal to be able to place it without pipes to fill their jugs and water skins, attaching pipes and taps should be an option for irrigation but since most irrigation is outside it where it rains every day it wouldn't really be needed for irrigation. I mean who would put a roof over the top of a plot anyway :)

Tanks are there for collecting rainwater. Connect them to taps and you can fill up to four water jars per tap. Perfect for remote retreats away from actual water. You should have a tap for every couple days you want to stay there, with the taps themselves full of jars.

The tanks themselves are obviously much too small, nothing that large should only have the capacity of two waterskins. On top of that, it'd be nice to place the tank, then attach the pipe instead of the other way around.

5 cementing paste (20 keratin/chitin & 40 stone) and 30 stone. Can only be made at a smithy.

You can hook more than 1 tank up to a tap if you want to fill up more waterskins

200 units of water only for something that takes over an hour to make easily. In the same time frame I could make a box and just put, oh, lets say 100 waterskins in it.

The devs have a great concept with this game, but my faith in their balancing abilities is really starting to falter.

Tank capacity should be way higher IMO, else the thing has the volume of but two waterskins?!

Yeah, the tank is very tiny, making it useless. I wouldn't suggest wasting engram points or resources on it. It would have to be an order of magnitude larger to be even a little useful.

you understand this is an alpha right? meaning getting the game to a functioning state is the main focus you probably wont see them focus to much on balancing until Beta

as for the water tower i think holding 1500 units (10 jars) would be about right for how much they cost to build getting 3-4 of them should give you enough water to last between rain storms However it would still be more cost effective just to build a bunch of jars to leach of a single tower :/

Don't mean to necro this thread but can you elaborate on this?

I tried putting a vertical pipe on top of the reservoir to put another reservoir on it but the pipe was obstructed. Do you need to lay 2 vert pipes then the 2 reservoirs? Does the reservoir underneath the 2nd get water from rain or is blocked off then? Is there a way to have 2 reservoirs side by side but feeding into a single tap?
Place both on an intersection pipe. Easy.

So I found out how you can use the water tank to store rainfall. Basically, you place a pipe first, then connect it to a pipe, then connect a tap to the pipe. You can fill the tank by placing a waterskin in the tank and remote using it, or wait for rainfall. 100 units fills up a waterskin, and the tank holds 200. To fill up your waterskin, place it in the tap and it'll fill it automatically.

water tanks are only useful in pvp when you build away from water or can't protect water pipes outside your walls

in pve/solo it's pretty much useless

I dunno, they can be really useful when you are miles from water but on a wet map.
