I believe so. I ran the commands I found in the guide on here of how to set up a server. To be honest I'm not sure how to tell what patch my server is on. I know I was on 160.8 when I was originally trying to connect, same as my friends, but now I'm on 160.9 and still can't find the server.
Yeah I reported that guy for trolling, hopefully the post will be deleted.
Now being on-topic: I have the same issue that my LAN server takes quite a while (20+ mins, I timed it) to show up. What I don't understand is, if 7 Days to Die lets you put in the IP and port and connect immediately in the client, why isn't that done in the ARK client?! I hope the devs fix that ASAP.
I managed to figure out the reason why I was not able to see my server in the list.
I used "wireshark" (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wireshark) to cap all the traffic from and to my server via ip filter "ip.addr == [my servers IP address]" then I got some "IMCP destination not reachable" errors.
The next tool you need is "CurrPorts" (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=CurrPorts) note that you need to start the tool as administrator. This tool shows you which port is used by which process. In my case the local TCP port "27015" was in use and listened by "AppleMobileDeviceService.exe".
If you kill this process ark is showing the server immediately if you refresh your favorites list ingame.
Note that Apple will restart this process itself if you kill it after like 5mins or so.
Maybe you need to uninstall or switch the port for this process somehow :) dont know currently if switching the port is possible.
I dont know why the fu** apple uses the steam port.
Edit: I found a forum post from users complaining about apple using this port :) (its a bit old but anyways)

Hope I could help someone of you guys.
best regards, noone
I added mine though Steam > Servers > IP
Then in the game, go to the dropdown menu "favorites", should show up in that filter.
Might have to toggle "show protected servers" to show password locked ones.
I had the same problem, the in-game Ark server list is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and only shows X amount of servers, not all of them.
When you go to favorites after first adding it through the Steam menu, it should instantly show up.
