Can't find own server
As the title says I can't find my own server. It's up and running, two of my friends have been playing on it for over a hour now, but I can't find it. It won't show up in the in-game server list or the server list through the Steam app. When looking under the friend tab it shows my friend on but when I try to connect it says server not responding. On the same topic under the Friend tab it doesn't list the game type, friend name, or any other info.

I tried using the Local Play option thinking that may work but it doesn't seem to. At least if it does I couldn't chat or anything nor could my friends and I locate one another. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Google hasn't been any help or I'm not googling the proper word/phrase.

Thanks!

I believe so. I ran the commands I found in the guide on here of how to set up a server. To be honest I'm not sure how to tell what patch my server is on. I know I was on 160.8 when I was originally trying to connect, same as my friends, but now I'm on 160.9 and still can't find the server.

I connected to a server that was 160, and im currently at the latest version. I don't think that is a problem? can you not save and restart your server?

was one of the problems with my server i couldn't join it under lan it would just load forever. while looking up how to fix my server for another issue i remember some people having this issue and they fixed it by using a different internet connection. i got it working by using a vpn and joining from a friend.

have you put your IP into the field to try connect directly to it (using the steam server list)? Or have to trying putting your subnet IP into it if you are on a router?

Takes while to load either way but when u get the giant A part of the loading you should be good

It is now showing up in the LAN section of the Steam server list. It shows my friend's names and all. I use the connect button for a box to pop up in game saying attempting to connect but then the box goes away. After that nothing happens ><

Ya try using a vpn and restarting steam but may take a little while for the vpn to come in effect but it should work then just join from your friend

Yeah I reported that guy for trolling, hopefully the post will be deleted.

Now being on-topic: I have the same issue that my LAN server takes quite a while (20+ mins, I timed it) to show up. What I don't understand is, if 7 Days to Die lets you put in the IP and port and connect immediately in the client, why isn't that done in the ARK client?! I hope the devs fix that ASAP.

Hi guys. this thread seems to be outdated I guess. I just came across the same issue as described. I was not able to see my own linux server in steam favorites nether ingame. But i guess I could find some "sollution" for the problem.

I managed to figure out the reason why I was not able to see my server in the list.
I used "wireshark" (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wireshark) to cap all the traffic from and to my server via ip filter "ip.addr == [my servers IP address]" then I got some "IMCP destination not reachable" errors.
The next tool you need is "CurrPorts" (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=CurrPorts) note that you need to start the tool as administrator. This tool shows you which port is used by which process. In my case the local TCP port "27015" was in use and listened by "AppleMobileDeviceService.exe".
If you kill this process ark is showing the server immediately if you refresh your favorites list ingame.
Note that Apple will restart this process itself if you kill it after like 5mins or so.
Maybe you need to uninstall or switch the port for this process somehow :) dont know currently if switching the port is possible.

I dont know why the fu** apple uses the steam port.
Edit: I found a forum post from users complaining about apple using this port :) (its a bit old but anyways)
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1560597?start=0&tstart=0

Hope I could help someone of you guys.

best regards, noone

I added mine though Steam > Servers > IP
Then in the game, go to the dropdown menu "favorites", should show up in that filter.
Might have to toggle "show protected servers" to show password locked ones.
I had the same problem, the in-game Ark server list is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and only shows X amount of servers, not all of them.

When you go to favorites after first adding it through the Steam menu, it should instantly show up.

putting it in favorites does not help and not connecting to the ip directly either. i use vpn and that works everytime but want to get rid of that.
