Swim up/down do not respect keybinds?

Hey, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, or if I'm just misunderstanding how the game will work.

Usually (my experience) in games, jump is used for swim up, and crouch for swim down.

In this game, I have remapped my jump and crouch from the default keys.

However, underwater, neither of my mapped keys do anything. But spacebar swims up, and control swims down. So I wonder if those keys are not respecting the keybinds, or are hard coded in some manner.

I had a similar problem. It seems that Spacebar allows you to swim up, as spacebar is the default jump key. Even if you rebind jump, which I have, spacebar remains the key to swim up. Hope this helps and I hope it is addressed soon by devs

Thanks, finally some validation from someone else! That is exactly the problem I have. I have rebound jump/crouch, but when in the water, I have to use the default keys to swim up and down. It can't be right. It's never worked that way in any other game for me.

Still having this issue as of 14th Oct 2015 :/ Since I use space for USE instead of default, I can't pickup anything while swimming... assuming you CAN pick up anything while swimming of course :).... trying different binds in the meantime.

I was in deep water and got off my ichthy and could not remount as my use key is space and i would swim up out of ride range before i could pick ride.

Holy crap, how long does it take to fix something so simple??? I too need this badly, I don't play with WASD keys I play with arrow keys and my crouch is rightshift and jump is rightalt and they don't work in the water...very annoying.

I finally figured out a way to fix this BS!!!!

remap the key you want to use for C (crouch)
remap the key you want to use for space (jump)

example:

I clicked on Add
I clicked on the left (type key) and pressed RightShift
Then on the right I clicked (type key) and pressed C.
Then click on OK

Now, click on Add again
I clicked on the left (type key) and pressed RightCtrl
Then on the right I clicked (type key) and pressed Space.
Then click on OK

Now click on write to registry. Done.

Then reboot your PC.

Now go into your Ark options and click on reset, apply, save to start over.

Set all the keys the way you want except leave crouch and jump on default.

Tested and works.

Caution, to use the keyboard as normal again, delete all and write to registry, reboot else your shift (in my case) will be C :).

Because these devs are lazy, irresonspible and unethical. Too busy trying to keep cramming out paid DLC to be bought by suckers. It is actually INSANE that they never acknowledged or fixed this. I reported it a dozen times. I only notice your response because I'm still subscribed to this thread.

Silly me, thinking these devs actually care about fixing problems in their game. LOL. Just keep pumping out that paid DLC you unethical hacks.

Bumping this again, why does ARK not respect changes in the local keybinds? and why is AXIS keybinds not in there by default? they ONLY show up once you rebind either of the WASD keys

Guess what. 2022 and it STILL isn't fixed. I cannot fathom how you could completely ignore something like this keybind problem. I have severe nerve damage so I have to rebind my keys and not being able to use anything except for space as the jump key makes the game almost unplayable for me. I am a loss for words to describe these persons who care nothing about their players.
