how to use color / colour / dye ??

How do i get a dye? Putting seeds or berries in a cooking pot didnt help very much, nothing changed (do i need a recipy?)
How do i apply dye onto a paintbrush?

I read a post saying that you need to add some charcoal, water and around 15 berries to make a dye in the cooking pot. As for the paintbrush it could be a case of just drag and drop.

To make the dye, in a cooking pot, put in your fuel, 15 berries in the dye color you want, a couple charcoal, and water (eg, a full waterskin), then light it. After a few minutes, you'll have dye. I haven't built a paintbrush yet, but to apply dye to clothes you just pick it up and drag it onto them - I'd be surprised if it wasn't similar for the brush.

Also, if anyone else hasn't figured it out yet, to make mixed colors use two different colors of berries in the pot when you're making the dye - put red and blue berries in, and you get purple dye; put blue and yellow berries in, and you get green!

not sure what I am doing wrong, I put in 15 berries, 2 charcoal, one full waterskin, light. All I get is more charcoal.

This onky works in a cooking pot, not in a csmpfire.

I found a good recipie list for colours by googling the wiki, but no matter what I do I cannot seem to paint my house, I put the paint on the brush in my hot bar and hold it in my hand, hitting the house but it wont paint,Im beginning to think Im supposed to paint individual pieces in my inventory before building, because if I click on the paint it lights up all the items that are able to be painted in my inventory.

I was able to directly paint my walls by hitting them with the paintbrush earlier this week, unless they broke it in the latest patch I don't know why you can't.

Put paintbrush on hot key slot, look at the wall piece and click hotkey. should being up a screen which lets you select an area to color. The paintbrush must have dye on it first though. To do that you click and drag over the paintbrush to add color to it (just like you would do for armor or saddles in your inventory to dye them). I have painted wood structures and containers and have seen colored metal structures. There does seem to be a few things you can't color, at least not yet, like the feeding troughs.
