READ THIS IF YOU HAVE A LOWER END COMPUTER
I've got a HP pavillion DV6 Notebook laptop, 2.3GHz processing power, 1GB GPU, 6 GB RAM...
Not exactly a supercomputer.
basically I have this game on lowest possible settings, and I get 10-15FPS, despite everyone saying I didn't have a hope of running.
my point is don't listen to the snobs who think not being able to run it on high end graphics and not being able to run it at all are the same thing. At the end of the day graphics are only a small part of the game, Minecraft isn't exactly photorealistic but it's still a good game.
I'm not saying it's guaranteed to run on any machine, it won't, just take other people's opinion on whether you can run it with a pinch of salt.

:::::SOLUTION::::::

http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds

You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam—for any reason. Maybe your PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements; maybe you bought a game by mistake; maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it.

===================================================================
YOU NEED.-

When you pre-purchase a title on Steam (and have paid for the title in advance), you can request a refund at any time prior to release of that title. The standard 14-day/two-hour refund period also applies, starting on the game’s release date.

===================================================================
Remember:
===================================================================

1. less 14 days.-

2. less 2 hours "IN GAME".-

Last time I got 15 fps was when I was scrolling down a powerpoint

Minecraft and this simply cant be compared...

Minecraft is designed to look like a blocky low res game, because u dont need anything else. The gamedesign evolves around this.

ARK looks like garbage on low settings, to the point where dinosaurs are large blobs of pixels in the distance and u cant see what species they are. Not ot mention all the foliage that turns to splattered paint instead of looking like trees, and checkered shadows popping stuff into view.

No, graphics,especially in an immersive game like this, plays a HUGE role.

My point is graphics don't dictate a game, I can still play the game and fun whilst I do it.

Is this supposed to be an endorsement of the game for lower end computers?

I'll be honset, I'm glad you gave some numbers, so I could understand where you are coming from. While 15 FPS is sufficient to you, that would be in NO WAY sufficient to me. So I would reject your endorsement of the title, based on those numbers. That would be completely unacceptable. I'm sorry you feel 15fps is reasonable. It is not.

Obviously I would love to be able to play it on epic, and if I did I might not be able to go back, it's just that people were saying it wouldn't physically be able to run on my machine, but it works fine, so people who have been told a similar thing should take note.

i have a ♥♥♥♥ computer and it runs just fine. Bought a walmart PC and jammed a new power core+video card in it. just sayin.

I have an i7 at 2.40 ghz, 13 gigs of ram, and a 670m with 3 gigs of video memory and I still get 8-25 fps on low.

Uhm, 10-15 FPS isn't playable in the slighest. You're being foolish.

Really? Apart from processing power my machine's way worse?

it doesn't look good I'll admit, but I can run around, gather stuff, kill things and combat reasonably well. Like, in my mind that's what playable means...

I am with you, JP. At home I got a fast pc but when I travel I take my old laptop (gt425m gfx). sure, it lacks the good effects but still I find a lot pleasure in playing ark. in a way it is nostalgic, my first computer was a atari 800xl : )

Have you tried
r.shadowquality 0
command in console? On some setups it can provide up to double your previous fps.

Make sure you have Graphics Quality on Low.
Up the Resolution Scale to the max.
World Tile Buffers - Low
View Distance - I have mine on High but if you really don't give a ♥♥♥♥, put it on low as well.
Anti-Aliasing - MAKE SURE ITS ON EPIC
Post Processing - Low
General Shadows - Low
Terrain Shadows - Low
Textures - Epic
Sky Quality - All the way down.
Ground Clutter - All the way down.
Everything under ground clutter can be unchecked.
Hope this helps you guys!

You also could use these commands on the launch options
-USEALLAVAILABLECORES
-sm4
-d3d10
