You need to do the following:
1: Do NOT let the food in the dino's inventory run out, it will lose it's tamed bar over time with no food. This one is important as the tame bar goes down very quickly once out of food.
2: Keep it knocked out. Two ways that I know of to accomplish that. Force feed it narco berries, or shoot it in the head with a sling shot.
To force feed it choose the bottom option in the dino's inventory, something like manual use item. As for shooting it in the head, it does the job very well, but it also takes a chunck of health per shot so take care not to murder the poor beast.
Should be all you need to do.
(The saddle is the special You start with, And The tamed dino is the one od the right type)
Stand next to it and Press F key
Herbivores (Non meat eaters) eat berries, so give it berries, Mejoberry increase tame time.
Carnivores (Meat eaters) eat meat...

Good luck!
Well your pets fight as you do, when you fight something, your armor/weapons get damaged the same applies to the saddle on Dinos when they fight something.
Its only for Parasaur, Drag and drop it on to the current saddle for Parasaur. It changes it. Same thing with the hat that comes with the game. Make yourself a hat and drag the one that comes with the game and apply it to said hat.
