Hey guys!

I know we’re having some issues, but everyone is working hard to resolve them. Hopefully we’ll be able to have you all online on the Official servers relatively soon and then we can start resolving some of the other issues you have.

I’m going to compile a lot of information for a mega-thread that way we can have quick access to information and keep everything much more organised and easier to communicate.

Reporting a crash

If you get a crash or someone you know get's a crash please report it to us!

We can also make use of dump files that are created.

You can find them located here:

\ShooterGame\Saved\Logs\*.dmp

Please email any of the files or the crash logs to support@studiowildcard.com

And we'll get to analyzing and fixing them as soon as possible

Single Player

Despite the button's funky color, you can now access the "Host / Local Play" menu. (If you host from there, you'll launch your own dedicated server, you can pick a password etc).

That said, there is a bug with performance after loading a singleplayer save-game that we will be addressing tonight. As we mentioned, expect a significant update of bug fixes, new content, and new features usually every day, at most every 2 days :)

Mac and Linux Clients

These are currently not available to download, however we expect to have them ready to ship out to players towards the end of the month. Won’t have too wait too much longer guys!


Amount of servers

We’ve realise that there are a large number of you still trying to log on but find yourself unable to connect to a server, we’re hard at work to fix the issues with the unknown error as well as bring up some new servers for you to connect to. We’ll aim to do this as soon as possible and hopefully will have the fixes in place tonight.

Unknown Error

We're working on it, nobody is side-stepping you! There are just a lot of topics popping up and it's hard to get to them all!

Unknown error can happen for a number of reasons:

It can happen because the server is actually full, but the browser has not updated that yet.

It can happen because you have a firewall or a router which is blocking connections to the server.

It can happen because the remote server for some reason is not communicating with you correctly.

It can also happen if you're technically "offline" on Steam, so try re-starting Steam if you haven't.

We're looking into these issues right now very diligently, all of our engineers are on sorting out these connection and server browser issues!

Optimisation and FPS

We understand that there are a lot of optimisation issues with the game currently. We have always been transparent about this, the game is very demanding but over the course of the next few days and the upcoming weeks we will be dedicating a lot of time to performance and optimization. You will see rapid improvement. For now some of the heavy perf killers are resolution scaling, shadows, as well as the check boxes for Distance Field Ambient Occlusion, Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, Dynamic Tessellation, Ground Clutter, and Sky Clutter sliders.

I would recommend that you guys turn your shadows down, disable both types of occlusion, tessellation and reduce your sliders. If you’re still having some perf issues, try reducing your resolution scaling down a bit and you’ll find yourself much more comfortable playing the game!

Don’t worry though, we’ll go along to improve this heavily in the upcoming weeks!

There will be an update that should be going out in the next day or so to ensure that every character receives their Founding items!

What about PvE servers?

We HAVE PVE FUNCTIONAL! I tested this setting a few hours before we launched, we just got totally destroyed by the overwhelming response from you guys and have been working to make sure you can play since then.

Connecting to a server

Could you try doing this, I know it has worked for some people, we're still working on server issues and I apologies about the inconvenience but we'll have it sorted as soon as possible so you guys are going to be able to find each other and play with one another. For now there are tools that hopefully you can make use of to find the server and get connected.

Firstly, if you could open your Steam browser, on the top you'll see an option called View - hit that and then servers. Once you hit servers, a new box will open and there's a filter button at the bottom. Ensure that ARK is being filtered, then it should hopefully load a list of ARK servers. See if you can connect that way.

Another option is to use this fan-made website. You just click on the server's IP that you'd like to join and then it should launch the client via Steam. Might not work on all browsers though. Mind you, I manage fine on Chrome with it. http://arkservers.net/

Another issue could be that you've updated the client and that particular server may not have updated, therefore you're unable to find it because you're on two different versions.

Setting up your own server

There are a few alternatives to setting up a server right now, UHostPro and BlueFangSolutions have begun providing their own ARK servers so check those out if you’re looking to play whilst we deal with the issues that currently exist with the official ones!

hey, i was on my singleplayer last night everything was fine. today logging in, all my dino's have reset stats (same stats as when i first tamed them) on health and melee dmg. Weight -stamina -movement speed is intact. But they all have x-amount of XP.

I did try to join a random unoffical server befor logging in to my own singleplayer. It said "prepareing to download mod", and then i noticed after some time, on the top it said, v231 is back soon, or something like that, and decided to go on my singleplayer. Dont know if that screwed something up?
Razems [DK] the lowered stats are due to an update which nerfed all Dino's dramatically. Just go onto your game on the load up screen bottom left check the update log youll see it mentioned there.
G Dogg. Thank you for answering, i can see what you are talking about. But im not talking about them beeing nerfed. Rather that the stats reset (as is when i first tamed them) or there about. for example my battle pteradon was over 5k health and 1670% melee dmg, and is currently sitting on 1621 health 394.7% melee dmg. If that is "nerfed" it seemed rather drastic... :/
True, i got the same problem with my giganotosaurus level 87. I tamed a lvl 6 one to compare and while the level 6 one has 50k HP ... my level 87 one only has 51k?!!
But actually i came here due to a different problem. Since the update i am no longer able to demote admins in my tribe from their position. Also if i kick an admin out of my tribe the manager keeps saying he is in and when i add him to the tribe again he automatically is admin again. Anyone else having that problem?

it comes after joining a server and before it finishes loading
Pretty sure this has been mentioned many times before, but there is a severe issue where tamed disappear without a trace for no apparent reason...
I've previously lost a quetz to this and just today 3 trikes, 2 mammoths and an anky. Please fix this because it's frustrating to play something and then lose hours of work you put into for taming and leveling.
And no, they weren't eaten because there are no entries in the tribelog.
I'm having a bug on one of the official servers (OfficialServer314 to be specific), where some of the supply crate drop locations around Red Obelisk actually wind up landing inside the ground and are unrecoverable. They do this consistently, and I've never seen them actually land on the surface

game crash since today with error
video driver not up to date.....

driver is up to date game worked fine yesterday
It's a long list and admittedly I did not read them all but I thought I'd leave it here. When you invert your y axis in settings, when using the right thumbstick it is inverted as well. When trying to select the upper left side selection (nw position) you have to move the stick to the lower right (se) position.
Having a minor issue with using spectator mode after updating to v237 server just stops, anyone else experiencing this issue?
im experincing client side dc's and lag after the new patch aswell.
Pve Server unofficial

Every one in the server are loosing their creature when they are in Wandering mode. Just un 1 week i lost 6 deod, 5 castor, 2 beetle. Even when put transponder theirs nothing. Nothing also in Tribe log, they simply despawn.

It's been a while like this and i heard you were aware of this, so i was wondering why this bug isn't corrected since it's a major breaker gameplay bug.

Sorry for my syntaxe, it's late i need to sleep.
