How do you get Stone ? Cant harvest it without tools and cannot find any stones...

Does anyone know ? What i'm missing ? I cannot find any stone in the game to get started. I saw some stone on the ground but hitting it doesnt do anything and pressing "E" doesnt either.

you have to be empty haned to pick up rock on the ground
