HOW TO GET LEATHER?

Animals seem to be giving 5 leather per, how am I supposed to get leather for a sleeping bag if there are only armored things around.

I don't think the armor matters... killed a dino and hit his armored back and it still acted like I hit him

Or go out and. . . find things that aren't armored. Be adventurous!
