How to host server and play game on same pc?
Me and my friends want to just play with eachother since we cant get on any servers, but when you press host game it closes your game and opens a window. Once the window is open if you try to launch the game it says that it is already running. Any help?

I know their working on fixing this Issue, so its a case of Having Patience and waiting for them, I keep checking Twitter and stuff, might be worth looking up External sources on How other players have set up their servers, but as i said to some friends earlier, not everyone likes the complicated way of setting up servers hehe XD

Well, I have a post on how to set up a server if you want to take a look at it =)
Trigger Jun 5, 2015 @ 6:54am
Step 1: Go to your Steamapps folder, Go to Ark, Once in the ARK folder Click on Shooter Game, Binaries, Win64, Once there you need to create a Text Document inside it, Place this line of Text

start ShooterGameServer "TheIsland?SessionName=mysessiongame?QueryPort=27015?ServerPassword=xxxxx?ServerAdminPassword=xxxxx?listen"
exit

Once you've put the password you want and session game name, Save it as, Serverstart.bat it will create a Bat file.

Step 2: Once done double click the bat file you just made and a server should Launch no problem, To know when your server is ready use CTRL+ALT+DELETE and bring up your task manager, Under that go to Process and watch Carefully at SHOOTERGAME you want it to be sitting at roughly 4,999,056.

Step 3: Bring up steam. ((P.S Dont have your game started yet, only your server!)) Click View, Click Server, Then click Change filters, Click ARK, Once youve done that, Its a simple case of finding your server, Right click on it, Then adding it to your favourites, me and my friends have been on my server like this for a while but i will note this DONT FORGET PORT FORWARDING ON PORTS 7777 and 27015 !!, If it works for you let me know, also don't forget you can add your server yourself if you know your IP ((google is great for that)) and then you can add the server to your favourites easily, by right click and click add IP or something similar :D

Ok ,, I see a lot of people are having trouble hosting a server.

This is what i did, and works well for me, no issues so far.

Open note pad, then copy and paste the next line of code without ( ) .

( start ShooterGameServer.exe TheIsland?QueryPort=27015?SessionName=YOUR SERVER?MaxPlayers=16?listen?ServerPassword=PASSWORD?ServerAdminPassword=PASSWORD? -nosteamclient -game -server -log )
"
Change "Your Server" , "ServerPassword" , "ServerAdminPassword"

After pasting into notepad, save the file as what-everyou-want.bat . save to your desktop.

Then goto C:/program file(86)/steam/steamApps/common/ARK/shooterGame/Binaries/Win64

Here you need to paste the .bat file you you made on your desktop, and make a shortcut to your desktop for easy access.

DONE..

Start your server from the shortcut ,, wait for server to be varified by ARK .. may take several minutes ( >5< )

Then run your game, find your server ,, HAVE FUN ..

I would add, that you should start the game first alt tab to minimize, then start your server then max the game back up...!

Download, follow the simple instructions. And BAM, you have a server dedicated to whomever you want to join.

What do you mean when you say "wait for server to be varified by ARK"? Do you just mean when the black box window with number pops up?

No, it will take between 2-10 minutes for the server to appear in the in-game server listing, AFTER the black box has appeared. This is normal.

If this takes longer than 10 minutes, you might not have your ports forwarded correctly.
