Finding friends and spawn

Hey there,

I've read some statements about the spawn system and on how to find your friends (flares, etc).
In this thread, I want to add my thoughts. As always, feel free to add what you think about it.


Spawning near friends
Dying is annoying. And it should be. True survival atmosphere can only exist with the fear of dying. With some bad luck in DayZ for example, you need to walk a hour to find your friends on the map. Spawn directly next to your friends would not be that good. But what do you think about spawning in a radius of 1-2 km/miles next to your friends. You still have to walk, you still have to fear death, but you don't want to throw your monitor out of the window. Both, the person where you want to spawn and you, have to agree before dying/spawning and the spawn-privilege can be denied by both of you any time. So its not just spawning next to your friends but spawning next to the person who agrees with that in advance.

Spawning in a tent
This idea could completely replace my first idea or co-exist.
Basically, the idea is that you can craft a tent where you will spawn after dying. There is one big problem with that:
If a tribe decides to attack a base, both of the parties can spawn nearly infinite in their tents.
To get rid of ever-spawning fist-fighters dont get that wrong you dirty pig!!!! ;) there could be something like a wear and tear system. After spawning, your tent will get broken. Just a little bit. After three or four times the tent is completely destroyed and you will spawn random again. The defenders wouldn't be able to hide forever because they need resources to craft new tents. Attackers need to plan their attacks carefully and have to fall back after their tents are destroyed and they don't have resources for new ones.


I'm a fan especially of the last idea with the tent. It gives you the immersion of a save home where you can hide and it could also be a useful gameplay addition.
Also, it will (hopefully) feature well-planned wars between tribes instead of kill-on-sight.

So again: What do you think about my ideas? How would you like to spawn in ARK: Survival Evolved?

There are already spawn options, here is what I can remember:
1) You can choose which beach you spawn on.
2) You can place a sleeping bag that is good for 1 respawn.
3) You can build a bed in your tribe's village that is good for unlimited respawns but has a cooldown.

legit all of this has been answered by the developers. And no you don't need a link, it's as simple as reading their news posts on steam.

Selecting the beach plainly doesn't work. I tried to spawn near a friend and tried "South 3" 6 times. I had all from (30;80) to (75;10) on the map. I find it impossible to find someone!
