The Rift doesn't work on consoles. Full stop. Even if it did, they wouldn't have the power needed to get it to a comfortable framerate.
As for the requirements, expect it to need liquid nitrogen cooling to run on the Rift. They've already said it'll be a pretty heavy game, double the rendering requirements and you've got a recipe for smoking computers...
That's not entirely accurate. Some games work better as FTP with MTX. Especially games with already large consumer bases, and are intended to be more of a service than a product (CCGs, for instance, would be perfect for FTP+MTX). Or games targeted toward people who probably can't afford a more expensive game, but still want to be involved. Games like LoL and DotA2 work excellently as FTP games. There's a place for FTP+MTX in the industry, and I personally think most MMORPGs should consider it, but that involves designing your game AROUND that fact.
Imho, too many companies jump on the FTP+MTX bandwagon, because they don't understand what makes a good FTP game. You shouldn't assume that all FTP+MTX games are terrible or evil... even though a lot of them are.
Just my personal opinion.
All that said, we don't think it's right for this game. We want to sell a product that people pay for once and enjoy. It means we can make decisions without being concerned about things like monetization loops, progression gates, or any of that crap. We just want to make a game that we'd play.
You mean you have paypal but no credit card? Something is fishy...
