Is ARK still worth playing in 2025?

I played when it first came out loved it on xbox got it on pc when i eventually got one played for a little bit but its been a few years or more wanted to replay a game i could just sink time into and was hoping ark would still be just as fun as i remember.

if anyone would want to start a fresh world with me to get my bearings for the game again id totally be down. god bless yall

the early to mid game is still super fun, depending on how you want to approach the late game (higher tier bosses) it turns into a grindfest though so you might have to adjust the server settings in order to maintain fun.

I still play several times a week. Not as much as I did last year. The RNG is infurating, and I'm not a fan of grinding, so I don't build much. I enjoy running the caves (most of them) and taming and working towards boss fights.

But my servers haven't been as busy and it isn't nearly as much fun to play on my own since I have done almost everything not related to the Genesis Season pass (which I haven't purchased.)

I still won't recommend people spend money on the game though as we should vote with our wallets and terrible studios shouldn't be supported, but feel free to read my review on the game.

Keep in mind I wrote it long before Ascended came out and official servers were still around.

As to whether it's worth playing, ark survival evolved was just supposedly named the 4th highest selling video game of all time. Lot of debate about what constitutes as "sales". But the game was actively developed for approximately 9 years, and is still usually one of the top 20 played games on steam.

I still think Ark is fun, although I was seriously ticked off when the devs announced Ark Ascended, so I quit for a year or so. I returned for the same reasons I liked Ark before. I am so sick and tired of killing zombies and I like to build things that have a purpose for reasons other than I will be attacked in 7 days.

Your base can be attacked at any time. Ark's dinosaurs are scary.

in more ways than one. You could not go toe-to-toe with the Butcher. But you could defeat it if you used your real life brain.

I am always playing on my own server, tbh I don't feel like joining other people because this game has a way of deciding the way YOU want to play. You just need to find people who think similar. Me, I prefer playing primitive.
