But unlike Rust, ARK actually has proper PVE.
EDIT: It's nothing like 7 Days to Die tho.
PVE is a sandbox survival crafting game, with taming. Like conan exiles. Really about the closest example I can give you is conan exiles, but in ark you tame creatures (no people).
So, which DLCs should I activate? With all the DLCs, the game becomes 500 GB and I can't afford it right now.
PALworld was definitely copying ark with it's taming (and about 20 other games). In ark, it heavily revolves around taming creatures. The things you tame will essentially be like tools, vehicles, weapons, etc. A lot of creatures in ark have special abilitie, or things they do better then most other creatures. Like for example, if you tame river otters as pets, you can wear them around your neck and they become personal heating and cooling systems. A high level otter can literally keep you from freezing to death in the snow areas.
The one thing ark does not have is any kind of automation and creature conveyor belts like PALworld. That's not a thing in ARK. You will not see lines of sheep carrying ingots out of furnaces.
As far as DLC's go, they are all separate maps. You really only need the basegame installed to play TheIsland. Only install another DLC if you plan to leave the island and go to another map.
