Ark survival ascended I completely skipped. I have no interest in starting over from scratch. Right now I'm stacking mutations on shadowmanes (from genesis 2) for the final bossfight on that map. That map hasn't even been released yet in ascended. Won't be released for probably a long long time.
Ark 2. What's that? Is that even a thing? If that even shows up at all, it's years away.
Like, imagine where you were like "Yo, anyone been by the beach lately? How are the waves right now? worth going to the beach or should I go tomorrow???" And someone just says, "JUST GO TO THE BEACH BROOOOOO, JUST TEST IT OUT YOURSELF!"
That's like... not helpful... right?
The game has a lot of content, and it really depends on what you want to get out of it.
I mainly play single player. When I did play multi-player it was often with a small group of friends, all of which I knew in real life (people I would go have a beer with). I ran a completely open multiplayer server for a while, but I had settings that discouraged the griefers and gankers. Like completely vanilla gathering rates. All the frothing combat wombats would drop an F bomb and bounce as soon as they figured that out. You wanted something, you had to work for it. But at the same time, I turned off decay entirely and anyone who built something was promised it would still be there even if they took a break. I never deleted any player's structures.
If you want to know about pvp, I can't talk about that. I have no idea what the PVP scene is even like in this game anymore, since official servers were taken down for evolved. I don't do pvp in any game that has RPG mechanisms, like stats, levels, etc. It makes no sense. There's no way to balance a level 10 player against a level 110+ player in ascendant tek armor who's toting a shotgun with +600% damage.
The single player save I've been on is one I've had for _years_. I take huge breaks, and then come back. But I keep all my progress, on all the maps I play on. I have something like 6 maps installed, and bounce regularly between them. To me it's a long slog super slow approach to playing ark. Right now I'm stacking mutations on shadowmanes, breeding some super beasts. It's slow, it's tedious, but I will have super useful tames when I go to do the Genesis 2 boss fight. I want to use the apex predator native to that map, which is the shadowmanes in my mind. Taming and breeding is one of the major focuses in the game to me.
I love the term combat wombat btw, definitely stealing that!
Thanks for giving me an in depth answer. I think this more or less answers my question.
Thank you!!!
I'll keep with my beach analogy.
Some days... even though you can ALWAYS drive to the beach... Some days, it's gloomy... Even rainy or just downright miserably hot. Someone who lives 10 miles from the beach COULD... could... Be curious how it feels there right now since he is not currently there.
Could he... Drive there in 5-10 minutes... Could he assess the situation in 30-120 minutes, Damn right he could!
But he might want the opinion of the CURRENT state of things from people who already have that knowledge.
He's still going to like the beach... Regardless if this isn't a good beach day.
On a side note... Kinda.
Have you never asked something akin to "How's the weather" or "Is it rainy where you are" ... or something like that?
Either way, Previous comment (as i mentioned) answered my question and I'm giving it a ♥♥♥♥ again right now.
You weren't helpful in the slightest though :)
