I just want to write a request to my server hoster.
They imply that they have direct contact with the developers, so I am wondering why they aren't aware of the option to set the voice chat to proximity.
Jarl said himself, that there is a proximity voice chat by default:
So I guess this option is "GlobalVoiceChat", but I wonder why my server hoster states in the web interface, that I am just able to completely deactivate the voice chat or turn it on globally.
Is there a setting to deactivate the voice chat and have the hoster only forgotten to add "GlobalVoiceChat" as Option into the web interface or is he mistaking "GlobalVoiceChat" with turn off/on?
Because in my understanding "GlobalVoiceChat" switches the voice chat to proximity if it is on false, but not completely turn off.
Did I get it right and is there even a command to disable the voice chat?
You can use the following commandline options to alter that:
?GlobalVoiceChat=true
This will make voice chat global, rather than proximity-based.
?ProximityChat=true
This will make text chat proximity based, rather than global.
Those are the only options currently to affect it. Have something else in mind?
Cheers,
Drake
So I guess "GlobalVoiceChat=false" will make the voice chat proximity-based then?
Seems like the hoster I've rented the server from has mistaken that option by stating in the web interface, that it will completely turn off the voice chat XD
I will refer to your answer, when I write them about that issue.
Thanks again for your help.
Cheers
I just set "GlobalVoiceChat" to "false" and "ProximityChat" also to "false".
But to be honest, I never tested it if it works.
The voice chat was then just not global anymore, but I couldn't say if the voice was proximity then.
I had no voice but was asked by some of the players if I could set it to proximity.
I wasn't asked afterwards so I guess it may have worked?
