Random items in dino inventory

[Vito Cheeto Burrito]

My Dilo pack leveled up after killing a Stego, and when I opened inventory to give them the prime meat, one of them had a metal hatchet in the inventory. Is this normal? I am playing local if that makes a difference.

I always figure that it means the dino ate someone since I have only ever found items like that (and clothes and berries and other things a player could be found carrying) on carnivores.

Yes its normal. Make sure you have your carnivorus dinos set to "Enable Item Gathering" and they will automaticly pick up any inventory on dead bodies they eat. Lots of good stuff to find on dead dinos.

Yea or if you kill them solo check inventory before you farm for meats. often you can find a metal hatchet/pickaxe or pike and those are always useful!!!

Yea, many high level dinos have some loot in their bellies that if you kill them, you can take it out. If your dino packs are eating the meat, they tend to grab the items as well (not always though, you usually will lose some if you leave dinos to gather everything). Hell, I gather pikes from dinos faster than I can go through them.

I've been assuming that's stuff from when they killed me one of the 15 billion times I've been killed up to this point, but I also just started playing so I don't know much.

True that. in the start make 4 spears and just jump into the water. agro 1 megalodon and swim to shore and just keep jumping out hitting him and jumping back. eventually check his inventory gather meats and keep going. not only will you LvL like crazy you will farm some useful gear!

Or tame 1 turtle, level it like 5-8 times, and laugh as he solos 6+ megalodons while you eat a cake on the shore.

Turtles eat megalodons for breakfast, lol.

It seems anything tamed is vastly superior to anything wild. A single tamed megalodon can solo a dozen or more wild megalodons.

I'm not entirely sure how they get there.
