Not to mention even in the canoe you would still be fish food, your talking about a (supposedly) 25 - 50 ft megladon in the water, they already attack structures you put up and destroy them, they for sure would make quick work of that rickety raft.
rafts - slow movement across water surface. just a flat platform like the wooden ceiling, that you'd use a pole to move across the water with, can't be used in deep water.
canoes - faster movement across water surface. I'd limit them to 2 man canoes though, any bigger and it would take ages to make.
Or a cruise ship.
