How do you remove an attachment from a weapon?

I was messing around with a scope and silencer and now have a scoped pistol with a silenced rifle. Fun, but impractical. You can switch attachments on weapons by drag and drop but I cannot figure out how to remove an attachment without switching it for another. Any help?

shift and move out with your mouse

Shift+drag should remove it. This is also presented in your inventory in text just between hotbar and inventory slots.

Followup question: How do you unload a loaded weapon? For example have you ever prepared for battle and found that your pump shotgun only had one round left and there seemed to be no way to top it off?

R = reload

I'm not sure why I'd need to unload a weapon though. I'd just leave the 1rd in the shotgun and put it in storage if I wasn't using it.
