What's needed to make a "safe" dino house?
Hi!

So now we have spent hours building and taming, and lost it all, for the Nth time.
I'm level 42 and I wonder how can I protect my dinos for 8 hrs while I work in real life?

Is the only way to have a chance at keeping them alive to build a remote base out of metal?
I assume that would only aggrivate the top tier players as metal => resources => possibly worth raiding. However as far as I can tell, it's impossible to build a dino safe house from wood?

So what's the recommended way to keep your dinos safe for a few hrs?

im in the same boat. i have gotten so i havent even retamed my dinos, i only have a pteranadon i keep him high up on the roof of my base.

for some reason dinos aggroo my base, even when im not in it. i had a big problem with carnos come to my base and killing all my dinos. they wiped out my dinos like 5 times. Now even though i dont have dinos in my base or anyone in there at all dinos still come out of the woodwork and attack it. Sarcos crawl out of the coean and start whacking at the walls.

its a very strange thing and i wonder why this happens.

Impossible.

Maybe they smell that a human lives there, maybe there jealous, and maybe you should find a safer place to live. I only once had a carno killing my dodo army, i just kept them as chickens for there eggs since dodo eggs seem to heal the same as cooked meat. But i cant even knock out a pteranadon because after two punches it fly's away. How did you mannage to do that?

trang arrows.. takes 2-3 and its down
my argentavis(rip) took 25 trang arrows before it went down... that was annoying with 3 dcs in a row

a Metal cage with a roof on it near your main base will most likely keep your animals alive. As they would rather use explosives on a base instead of a cage. Unless they have enough explosives to go through both.
im on a pve server n icant even make a house for my raptors to keep them safe -.-

you need a double outer wall with double walls to prevent griefers killing your dinos through the wall, i would advise a height of 3.

Your main house should have a flat top, completely covered with spikes to prevent airdrops and bird landing.

Can still be raided but not without usage of ressources and efforts.

Thanks and this all would have to be in metal in order to stand any chance?

I assume the spikes would at least need to be metal (rooftop and outer wall) otherwise you are still weak to smart raiders...

but, Im assuming wood spikes are as easy to break as wood structures; I haven't tested wood spikes yet.
