how to find your base
hey guys,

i was wondering if there is any marker or smth like this where u can easly find your base when u walk of to explore the map or so. is there anything?

i saw the little wood sign but if i understand it right, its just a sign and not marking your base for you or your tribe .. any solution?

When you are at your base, open your map and press P.
Enter in the coordinates and the name you wish to call it.

if you can find out generally where it is on the map, you can mark it on the map using corodinates. it might be easier if you have a compass later on to know which way you are facing when returning to your base. you can pull out your map by pressing 'm' if you didnt know.

Hm, other than beds you can see on the spawn points, which are easy enough to check by keeping a sleeping bag with you at all times, not really. It's not that hard to keep track in the game though. The giant pillar obelisks give you a constant general sense of where you are, and what direction you're facing (save for some thick jungles). The compass kind of seems pointless to me because of these large markers, except as said, if you may have got turned around in a jungle that's too thick.

Lay a trail of standing torches, remember landmarks or follow the shape of the land meeting water when checking the map. Other than that, there's not much else to guide you home. Check out a full uncovered map of the island on google to see where those obelisks are. Once you find yourself and know where those 3 huge towers are (they never move) it's a piece of cake orienteering via the map.

Figure out where your base is on map. Than figure out what time it is in-game. Use the sun or moon to figure out which way your base is.

Or start remembering rocks and trees you pass by -_-

Only way in a server that doesn't have your set location showing on the map, is to get a GPS.

It also helps to bring up your map with M while you're at your base to make a mental note of the area around you. Aside from that the only real marker is on death for respawns - or when using fast travel in a bed.

cuz the large markers tell you the exact location of your hidden base

1: maybe didnt think to record map position with a dot but knew general area
2: cuz when the moon/sun constantly change positions your totally gonna be able to follow it if you didnt know the time of day at your base cuz yet again your new and dont look at the positions of things in the skybox
3: yes tottally works not like someone can break those rocks and trees...
Wow man.... its a good thing this thread wasnt posted within almost Hours of Ark releasing in Early Access.

I wonder if this is almost the first EVER forum thread?
