Raptor attacks
Are raptor attacks supposed to be such a pain in the ass? cause it's impossible to hit them they just keep circling you, you turn behind they're infront of you, you stay forward they bite you in the ass :<

The AI movement code is ... not optimal. Your best bet is to walk backwards while facing the raptor and just holding down attack.

And pray of course - Later on you might be able to get the drop on it with a bow or rifle. And then kill it before it reaches you.

Pike in hand, attack held down. Some fortitude and hp and your good for 1-2 raptors maybe even 3 if the levels arent to high. But i agree they are a pain. Its the jumping attack animation that makes em end up behind you 24/7.

When you're on a fast Dino too, sprint away and turn around whilst jumping. You can now fight him as usual if not, repeat.

When you're on a slow Dino or nothing else helps out just dismount and let your Dino kill the raptor by itsself, Dinos seem to turn around on spot alot better without a rider.

Your problem is mostly caused by servers. In Singleplayer you will find that raptors just run up to you and start eating you up. On servers they glitch around and barely hit you.

Non Glitched out \ lag free raptor is even more terrifying, it's like fighting a light speed kung fu master, they wreck it #clevergirl

Yeah - Raptors are a nightmare whether you're online or in singleplayer. I just try to avoid them altogether if I can - Too much risk of flank glitching with a very quick death to follow.

Just Keep Backing up and punching them their so glitchy if you move in a back Straffing circle i never get hit cause they are glitchy. Try single player and see what they really can do and youll hate it worse.. I dont even use my pike on them cause it wastes durability.

When mounted on my raptor, he doesn't seem to be able to "dogfight" with a wild raptor, as the wild one has a faster turn radius it seems. I usually jump off and let my mount get back on the offensive. And yes, raptors are the piranhas of the land, which is why I prefer to travel in packs of 2+ tamed raptors, for the mate boost and for the "wingman" support.

Just run backwards spamming attack it will kill them. Once you get your Raptor to 300% Damage they 1-2 shot Wild Raptors.

They do move around alot during combat, but I think that is intentional. Or at least, it should be. Animals wouldn't stand directly in front of you and try and duke it out until they are dead. They would move in and out of danger while they try to bring down their prey. This should go for all zmall/mid size predators like dilos as well.

Yes...this now works with the ability to back up. Thanks devs. :)

Somewhere around level 20 or so, you become immune to raptors.... like they literally stop doing noticeable damage. Sure, stand there and let them strike you and you'll hurt, but any sort of faceroll on the keyboard will win you the fight.

Every raptor I've tamed on the official servers, I've just spent 5 minutes in a glitch out / punch duel with them, forget the arrows, go mano a rapto fist vs beak and get it done.
