best place to build base

I'm currently truing to find a decent place to build my base. I cant find any good spots though, so do any of you have any good suggestions? :)

Depends entirely on what you mean by "good" - There is no good place to place a base in PvP except if you can find somewhere so well hidden that a small base won't be noticed (It will)

Personally I've always settled on flat cliffsides next to waterfalls in the western part of the map. There's a double waterfall leading down to the coast near the green Obelisk. It has two flat areas on either side of a waterfall dropping into a small pond just off the coast - Build on one side and bridge to the other for a great scenic house.

build close enough to the rescources you need to build it. also keep in mind that most of the metal is in the North. so build with a good route in mind to the places you will need to go to keep expanding and advancing.

On a similar note to Monkey - While mountains have the metal, it also has the most dangerous spawns (as well as being very cold, which drains your stats like mad early on)

Don't settle too far up there - But keep it in mind for later. You can fly up there for short trips or ride. Or settle close enough to get there fast (There are a few waterfall bases close to the mountains in the north too)

Good ole' Death Island. It also has a cave if you're into that thing.

theres a nice cliff face directly middle of north at the coast. some good flat areas above at the edge of the cliff aswell. near a dense forest and some good locations to mine metal.

Spawn in the east zone and head north until you see a river that flows from a waterfall to the ocean (the waterfall is almost underneath the blue obelisk and the river flows directly east of it)

It's a good location, easy access for resources and it's very rare you get a dangerous dino spawn (occasionally a Carno, Scorpion or Sarcho will find it's way nearby, we're talking once a month kinda stuff)

It doesn't have a lot of the basic resources though - And it isn't really "safe" because of the dino spawns it has. It makes for a very pretty place to build a base though.

This is this very nice spot in the south west next to the green tower. Its near the beach, and has this awesome waterfall and cliff. I think if there is a server wipe on PvE I am running to that spot ASAP. I can picture that spot being taken in ever server at least.
