What does Long Grass do?

So i have some long grass seeds and trying to find out what long grass does cheers..

There are recipes that can be looted that use it, check the Guides section of this game (up top far right) and look at the cooking guide. It shows some. There are also theories that for some of the Herbivore Dinosaurs, Long Grass and some of the other veggies are the preferred taming food.

While picking berries from bushes (or using dinos to collect berries), you'll sometimes get random seeds. Long grass, Rockcarrot, and Savoroot are all examples of seeds you can find, plus the berries that you pick as well.

Make a crop plot, irrigate it, fertilize it and put in a seed. In a few hours you'll have a harvestable crop.

Lazarus chowder, used for 9 minutes of air under water, is a great use for long grass, savoroot, and mejoberries. This is the only food I ever cook and so having a crop of long grass plus savoroot is crucial.

There are other cooked foods that require longrass, but none as important as Lazarus chowder...though all the cooked food privide some helpful buff, so worth looking into.

im not entirely sure but when i fed a mammoth i was taming longrass it seemed like it acted like prime meat i have yet to retry it

Confirmed. Mammoths prefer longrass over anything else (save savoroot)
