Mosasaurus vs Megalodon
So, I am curious as to why the dossier is making the comments about Mosasaurus as the apex sea predator. Makes no sense, if we're speaking from findings and scientific understandings.

The largest ever recorded or known Mosasaurus was 59feet. Megalodon's(a bit harder to get exact size measurements because of lack of bone, etc) are suggested to have been on average 50-55ft in length with large ones getting around 70feet(or more) in length. On top of this, scientists have suggested fairly recently that Megalodon's bite force was the greatest of all-time surpassing the t-rex(http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2008/08/080805-shark-bite.html) ...

So, I know it's sort of stupid to even worry about, but the idea of the Megalodon playing second fiddle to any sea creature is awfully bizzare. Oh yeah, their models need to be much larger, still way under-sized.

The reason that the Megalodon is so undersized is because it is not Carcharodon megalodon (The species that existed on Earth) but is rather Carcharodon ultramegalodon, a species that happens to be much smaller than the Earth species and lives solely on ARK. This is the reason all the creatures seem inaccurate, they are not the same species as the ones on Earth, rather they are under the same genus.
That's disappointing but, makes a lot more sense. Thanks.

current ones in game aren't accurate to the games official dossiers. The current megalodons look like 30 foot greatwhites with different coloration. Most likely they are place holders for the more massive sharks they plan to put in game which you would encounter in the depths.
A true to life megladon would also never be found in such shallow waters, as they ate whales for prey...
the megalodons in game arent sized very well to begin with, a mosasaur would wipe the floor with them

The ones in-game are relatively accurate to the dossier as it shows a compsarison of the Megalodon to a human and it is not much more that two and half times the length of a human.

Incientally- not that this is actually the case but I'd thought I'd comment- killer whales hunt great white sharks by utilizing the sharks' tendency to go unconscious if it's rolled over upside down. It's been observed that large female orcas will attack great whites and force them over, then as they go unconscious, tear into them and eat their livers. A hunting technique could outperform size. These animals are +/- the same size, within a couple feet when you compare large great whites with the females that perform these hunts. So it's not implausible that with an anti-shark technique- which given mosasaurus ate sharks in its time period it may very well have- a mosasaur could take down a megalodon readily.

I hope they actually do come up with a good, solid story that explains why this place is populated with non-realistic, hybrid species. I can overlook lots of stuff, but I always prefer with lore and story make some kind of sense. I hope there is an actual good and interesting explanation and lore to all this in the long run.
Megalodons in game also seem to think they can fly and appearantly they can also spontaneously die and disappear while you are riding them...lol

LOOK closely at the dossier that shark that is two and a half times the length of a human is a great white shark it even says so under it. The huge shark above the human and great white is the portrayed size of the shark and what it's size is suppose to be.
the Megas in the game are little more than slightly over sized great whites... but that is probably fair as a full sized megalodon couldn't swim in the shallow waters that are on the ark. They would also be about as long as most of the rivers are wide so I am sure just making them able to move around without clipping through the sea floor would be a challange.

Oh... Did not see that, but then, the Megalodon in the game is not too much smaller than that either.

As I've already shown, this is complete nonsense. Megalodon's were the apex predator and would not really have anything to be afraid of given their massive bite force.

Now, comparing what modern-day Killer Whales do to great whites doesn't really apply here as Orcas are significantly larger and even then, their best form of attack on great whites is surprise. It'd be a bit tougher to roll over a 70-foot megalodon by a 50-55 foot Mosasaurus.
Irregardless of all of, was sort of disappointed by the Mosasaurus dossier and the fact Megalodon's in this game aren't really... scary as they could/should be? They're just slightly larger great whites.
