If it isn't possible for them to find your server using the normal server browser, there's a 95% chance that something isn't right with your port forwarding.
Shortcut method? And my friend still dosnt see it.
Just went to check my ports and the Services are gone. When i try to make a new one it gives me a "falure! plz check inputs". I know i put in the right inputs and everything.
Iooks like it may be your hosting that is causing issues, and the only way to fix this is to reboot unfortunately :(
Though, it looks like even when you do this, the problem can still persist.
It's probably a port forwarding issue. You'll need to forward 27015 AND 7777 to the computer running the server, through your modem, AND and routers between that computer and the internet. If you have a typical Comcast/Xfinity modem, it'll have port configuration, and if you have a router after that to connect the rest of your household, you'll likely have to configure that as well. That's one of the difficulties of following server hosting walkthroughs... the process can be very different for different people.
The shortcut method: create a new shortcut and set the target to the following:
To find the local/LAN address of a computer on your network, open a command prompt window on the server computer, and type in "ipconfig" (no quotation marks). The correct LAN address should be the one listed as your IPv4 Address. Use that in the shortcut to connect to a LAN server from that same network.
I'm having the same problem with having my friend connect to my server, we've tried the direct connect lan in the target line of the shortcut. Also how and where are you finding you NIC's for ark servers?
I'm sure I might be a little late but of course, if you're still having an issue or if someone else is, I own myself a TF2 Surfing and 2FORT forever server here: 68.148.251.23
Anyways, so it's showing up in LAN and not NET and your friends aren't connecting?
Okay, so this is a port forwarding issue, I mean it has to be since others can't see/join the server.
So, first of all, allow the inbound and outbound connections on the firewall of the server for said ports, this just makes things easier and in general is a good idea for running a game server.
Next is really double check your Port forwarding, ensure you forward all the required ports for the game and the software that runs the server, steam has a list of ports required for valve games. A common mistake is that when port forwarding is that the Redirect Target Port is set wrong, it must equal the beginning destination port of the port range you're forwarding.
A common mistake/issue is running the game off the same machine you play the game with, (which yes is possible) the issue with this is the port you use to play the game is usually the same port used to host the server (especially with valve server 27015 in most valve game cases) but since it's the same as the gaming machines client port you just end up literally hosting yourself, which will in turn force the server into a LAN non-dedicated server.
Next, make sure you're giving people your Public IP, this is not the "IP" of the server but rather the IP of the server box itself. (this IP can be found here whatismyip.com but make sure that when you use that link it's on the PC running the server) If this works for other people then fear not! Nothing is actually wrong, I assume you are hosting the server on your machine or on a machine on the same network and if that is the case the server will very naturally and understandably show up in LAN being on the same network and all. (But for other people it will be over the NET because they are not connected to your network)
Hopefully, this helped you, and if not hopefully it will help someone else. I'll sub to the discussion just in-case you guys give a quick response, but I can't guarantee I'll respond forever.
