When to move off the beach.
Newer player, about level 10. Playing with horrible fps for the rest of the night, getting my new card tomorrow. When should I move inland. I haven't tamed anything yet that lived to tell the tale. And I'm pretty much playing solo.

When should I try to move inland, and make a base that wont be raided on the beach?

As soon as you want to.. Sure it is dangerouse inland but if you can make it there you can make it anywhere... errr wait that sounds like a song :P

It depends, if you're comfortable being on the beach without much interruption from other players then i'd suggest stay around that area for now until you have maybe a raptor or a couple of dilos to help you. i'd suggest finding other players to play with as well, it makes moving around a lot more simplified
When you feel you are ready. Some poeple settle inland at level 1.

For a new player, I would wait until level 15 or so when you can tame and use a Parasaur as a mount/pack mule, and build basic wooden structures.

Find a nice and flat cliffside location near the water. Plenty of waterfalls you can build on top off, or below. And plenty of natural protection.

Depends how friendly peopple on your server are. On servers with raid happy people, you might want to do it as soon as possible. I've found a lot of raiders will stick to the beaches when making their rounds. Sure there are angrier dinos inland, but I'd rather get killed in a fight against a T-rex than a person in my sleep.

that is a choice you need to make but i didnt move off the beach originally because there use to be metal near me. Now that, that is not the case i moved inland and have expanded to multiple bases all over the map. I'm level 52 so its easy for me. But around 15 i would have been able to move on a PVE server, on a PvP server......find a tribe...otherwise, as walls sit now, and people who only like destroying things...you wont make it through a night.

Pretty much all good suggestions. If I can last, I'll wait till I can make hide armor.

Honestly I can't help you much, I live near a river and a lagoon, with a few of my clanmates. I mainly gather resources and build/upgrade, while they're the ones out there either hunting or exploring. Only dino I've tamed is the turtle so far, and that is with help getting enough narcoberries to keep it unconscious.

From what I've seen of my hunter clanmates, they usually get 2-3 dilos, the dino that spit, and a bunch of spears or a bow and arrows, so most fights are in their favor. Keep in mind you will probably need about a stack or two of narcoberries for all the dilos, and you will need lots of meat. I'd suggest hunting coels, phio(elephant bear animals), or quite a few dilos to gain enough meat.

You can do just fine on the beach! I live on the beach and am a level 28 in SP game. Just because you're on the beach doesnt mean you won't be eaten by large nasty things. They can spawn anywhere - so far I've had to deal with a level 23 Sarco, a level 25 Carno, and a level 20 Scorpid - right there in the same place I zoned in. In SP you don't have to worry about stupid griefers either.

You can go inland for resources and to explore - you're gonna need waypoint shacks along the way depending on how far you plan to go. At least thats how I'm playing through it anyway.

Wait until you get your bow and arrows, that will change things alot. Also in SP, you can console the dino taming once they are unconsious using FORCETAME, and be free of that long laborious boring taming time. Makes the SP game a heck of a lot more fun.
