Actually having a way to make beef last longer and not spoil so often is great, but they need to remove oil from the recipe it doesnt belong....at all. Oil is not the easiest resource to get, and even if it was it has no business being in the process of making beef jerky. I doubt people want to go swimming with megladons at the bottom of the ocean just to get some oil to make jerky..
the only gripe i have about the jerky, is that it does spoil, jerky doesnt spoil, nore should it in the game, and if it didnt it would make it much more worth it.
Or last for a very long time - I still don't see why we don't just have basic dried and salted meat right at the start. You can't cool or prepare meat for longterm use resulting in your inventory of cooked meat turning into ... well... living meat in a matter of hours.
I'm ok with it not giving us a super large amount of food, I'd even be ok with it dehydrating you a little bit for the sake of making it a more balanced usable item if it became easier to make -because its stringy, salted meat.
Its not just another option, its a much longer lasting option that is why its so great.
I have to agree, petrochemicals and food do not mix. Now, if they required something like citron or something to involve acid in the preparation process and require you to use crop plots? That'd be reasonable, even if still not quite true to life.
