Longneck Rifle Durability and Ammunition Cost
Anyone else think that this thing breaks way too fast? I've only shot about ten bullets and it's already down to almost half durability.

On top of that, those ten bullets costed 40 ingots to make. Four ingots for a single bullet? What in nine hells were they thinking?

indeed.

two ingots for a simple bullet is also pretty bad

I think your only meant to use guns against players or in desperate life saving situations. Powerful but costly.
Considering you find a longneck rifle+ammo in nearly every 3. crate weve stacked up on a lot of them. And 10 shots is 5-10 kills so its fine with the costs.

Powerful? I shot a Carbonemys three times straight in the skull with my Longneck, and it only dropped after I hit it with my stock a few times and then my four raptors came and killed it themselves.

You realize you can find blueprints with higher quality weapons on it. The Primitive Rifle is just fine. Look around, there is 6 differently levels of Qualtiy. Ascendant Rifle would probably last a very long time.

The game was designed with ammo being rare in mind. They kinda have to enforce artifical scarcity for that to happen. They COULD, I guess, make a special ingot be needed for ammo or something.

Guns are meant for pvp , shotgun+longneck both take out players in 1-2 shots (depending if they were flak armor) we shot a dilo with the rocket launcher and it didnt die.

Yeah, but it also takes stupid abouts to repair.

So are we supposed to just sit back and never use guns for hunting?

According to the devs - The game is made so everything you learn is still usefull when you reach endgame. So thigs like a bow or a spear never become obsolete when you reach a higher tier.

Well I'm glad that bow and spear is useful while the actual end game stuff, you know, like guns, are useless.

Since I managed to obtain an ascendant shotgun, I would still say its too expensive. After 4 shots with it (28 ingots for those shots btw), it already requires 70 ingots to repair the current damage.

Finding the blueprints is no easy feat either, and even if you do find them you must then provide the ammo for it that costs -4- ingots for a -single- shot.

Another thing to be concerned about is the simple pistol, it took me 24 shots (48 ingots + 60 for the pistol) to kill a level 3 carboemys, albeit the durability is still pretty good.

Overall the guns feel pretty underwhelming, and if we're just supposed to tranq higher level enemies then beat them to death with a pike or a spear, then the game wouldn't be that fun now would it?

I think we just need either a cheaper or a more powerful set of bullets for guns, makes the PvE players not think twice about them, when they should be aiming for them to help the hunt.

Metal is a bit more easy to get now, but the guns are still way too underpowered to be useful at all, early or late game. I could easily just use my bow and it would be cheaper and more powerful than a longneck.

If these guns actually killed things, I would say "Hot diggity, I'll cough up this exorbitant amount of metal ingots to make this bullet, because that would still be useful!" but right now, I can just keep those ingots and make something like a stone arrow, and that would still be preferable to how bad the Longneck and other guns are right now.
