Where about are a good place to get these? i know caves are one, but how deep down are the clams for them in the ocean? cause i cant find a single one.

They are apparently fairly deep down, I use our gator to dive on the west coast and I find oil more readily then the clams and I have over 300 oxygen without using the boosting food

make lazarus soup and get a megalodon

all the way as deep as you can get i tend to find them between all the underwater canyons

u need to swim for 4 mins down but the megalodons are too gun ho and along come 20

Best thing I can tell you to do is what I did.

1) Get the map with all the caves drawn out.

2) Make a single player local session and cheat your stats to max and turn on god mode.

3) Investigate where the best cave for you is.

4) Practice swimming to the cave 10 times. Use landmarks to guide you to the cave.

5) Go back to your regular game and profit.

I used this method for the east underwater cave. I needed 360-380 O2 before I could get there before my stamina and O2 ran out. 380-400 is your target, you will be able to out swim a megolo. I average 20-40 oil per run depending on what I can get on my way down, and 30-50 silica pearls inside the cave

Are there air pockets in underwater caves?

Yes once you clear the short tunnle into the cave you swim up into a big air pocket room. No monsters just loot. The water temperature is normal once you get to it to, so no fear of freezing once you reach the cave.
