Taming T-rex
Anyone has any idea on the amount of narcotic/meat and how long it takes to tame a t-rex?

i tamed a lvl 27 T-rex in about 1.5hrs time with narcotics and prime meat. i had 2 friends finding me alot of prime meat, so i mostly had just prime meat to give it.And i used Tranqilizer arrows to knock it down...while it cased me in a circle, doing that solo so it wouldnt get killed. i started with 95% taming eff.
You need a lot of tranc arrows dont you?

Also make a Preserving Bin to the taming area, good way to keep the prime meats from spoiling and do enough Sparkpowder to keep it working. It takes a bit of planning forehand when you go there alone, but after a few failures, you learn what needs to be done differently..

Next time i try to get some higher level rex, this current rex farms prime meat so fast, that it shouldn't be an issue feeding it 100% prime next time, incase there's dino's with prime meat around..

Level 9 Rex needed 25'ish tranq arrows, i'm not sure if all of them hit, i was a bit far away for the first 3-4 arrows..

I guess I can use my carno for prime farming, but a refrige would be better ofc :D

I just tamed a level 5 trex.
-100 Narcotics (20 left after beeing tamed.)
-100 Raw Meat (Overkill i think)
-50 Narcoberries for filler
-4 Prime Raw Meat (My raptor died the other day so I couldnt farm more lol)

Using Raw Prime Meat for 4x faster taming.
And this took 2h.

This was the same here (except the Raptor part xD)

Yeah thats a lot, but its easy to farm regular meat during taming :)
I tamed a lvl 9 Spino and it took roughly 3 hours
- 150 narcotics
- 50-75 narco berries I gathered around him
- 60 raw meat
- 15-20 prime meat ( was lucky and found brontos near by)

Also I suggest leaving a few raptors by the taming dino to help protect him. I have two raptors both with saddles ( saddles give your dino armor) and they can handle pretty much anything.

also if you run with a pair of raptors to avoid them running out of stamina just switch raptors after 1 runs out = inf stamina running.

Got new rex today, it was level 60 on taming.. It kinda just happened, i shot it with 50'ish tranq arrows, i ran out of arrows and start running towards my place, only opening the smaller dino gate, as even stegosaurus didn't fit until fix and thought "i'll just run it, it can't follow me".. Well it did follow inside and i had no tranq arrows left, so it took like 20 more punches until it went down.
I fed it almost completely prime meat. I'd say it was 90% Raw Prime, 5% Cooked Prime and rest 5% was regular raw meat. Prime was very easy to harvest with the rex i got yesterday. Oh, Narcotics i didn't remember to count, but it was close to 300 +/- 50.

It took something between 3 and 4 hours to tame this level 60 rex. Efficiency went from 92.5% on start to 35% when it was ready.

I tamed a Carno the other night, only had one bit of prime meat and that was cooked - it had seconds left til expiry so no choice. With raw meat and Narcotics it took three hours. I had to protect it against several Dilo attacks (I assume they simply spawned near by several times) Defending my future pet was fun, but playing the wait, feed, drug game got a bit old. Still, I'm in Local Solo play, so things will be a little different.

Scoob.
i hear that using berries on a carnivore(meat eater) lowers the taming %, because they hate berries...that berries work best with herbivores(plant eaters) and visa versa that Narcotic is bad for herbivores since it contains spoiled meat. i think theres logic to this if this is ingame mechanic then i would avoid using narcotic on herbivores...and no berries for meat eaters.

get prime meat/ starve the food down a fair bit, feed it prime meat, bam quick tame. Took me and my tribe 2hrs (max) to tame 2 T Rex's at once. Mine being level 12 and my mate's being level 15.
Starve down more of urban legand as other poster pointed out you can do it in less then 2 if you can farm prime meat well. One I baby sat took about an hour and 40 mins and that was because we had a dry spell for a bit where it was dark and we had bad luck getting prime meat. Personly I use a carno to harvest not a tool and I seem to find more then my tribe mates may be dumb luck may be that the carno bit is much better for extracting the cut choices then a metal pick.

Outdated, no longer does it. Right now it only goes down when they eat the meat or you hit it. You use to lose taming % every time you used narc as well as it was eating it. But before this 175 patch at least I used berries to top off a carno tame yesterday so I could run off and get more prime with out wasting a full narc when a couple of berries would work.

Another great example tamed a dino flyer, and its torpor was so low I hand picked berries for it as narco was a bit overkill minus when I left to kill one of the 4 brontos that were so close I could hit it with a bow if I still kept arrows for the thing. It tamed at 68% effiecency and had incredible base stats for a level 4 dino.

While I realize that starving doesn't technically gain you more time, I would like to point out that it might have a place. If you go out on a Prime Meat run and come back with say....10 prime meats....if you are taming the normal way half of those meats are going to spoil before the trex eats em. While if you have starved it he will eat em up right away. So there is something to be said for it under the right circumstances.

I've never actually used the starvation way, and thought it was silly, but I just now got back and wasted half my prime meat and thought.....huh......there might be something to it after all...
