Taming takes way too much and too long
Taming a low level dino takes less time, but that dino takes forever to level up (catching a level 70 dino for example, it takes the same amount of time for it to level from 70-71 that a level 1 takes to go to 1-2).

So you wanna tame high levels so you can get the strongest dino right? Well that's cool but it takes actual hours, real time hours.

It took me 4 hours to tame a level 74 trike.

Are you actually insane? What if the server goes down? Even if it stays up it takes hundreds and hundreds of items to kept it knocked out (276 necro potions). Four hours of frantic gathering of necro berries that have a crap drop rate.

And to those of you that think "oh don't ruin this game for casuals" I have this to say:

At the end of the day it is the casuals who play the game. Of most games the general audiance of hardcores that want the game to be painful only make up a small percent of the total player base, around 5% at most, normally around 1%. These people have nothing but free time and thus like their games to take forever and everything to be painful and if anything ever changes they yell about it on the forums. The 'casual' group, those with jobs/lives/families, people that play these games make up nearly 70-80%. Why would you not catter to them in favor of this vocal minorty of 'hardcores' which in all reality translates into "I just want things to be hard so only I can have fun and no one else" seriously, what is the true reason you want it to take 4+ hours to tame a t-rex? Is it because you love sitting there for four hours, or is it because you know most people can't do that so you can be the only one riding around on the big dinosaur?

Get real.

So you want it to be easy to obtain a lvl 70 trike that you can up to 104? O.o. Use the tribe system and have people take turns, box it in with a wall to avoid predators, etc.
And I hope it will stay like that...

Don't wanna see everyone with an army of 70+ spinos...
I found the taming to be overly long as well but I thought I was the only one thinking that. Even when you pump them up full of food you still gotta sit near it for ages waiting for that taming bar to fill up. Taming should be a fun process but its just boring and tedius.
And after those 4 hours you have the strongers Trike on the server. So whats the problem? If you cant invest 4 hours into becoming OP as F*CK you should quit the survival genre.
No, keep it the way it is, its perfect. Mounts is the endgame, it should take hours. Just like raiding a dungeon in any MMO, it takes hours, and u might fail.

Oookay so:

Higher level dino takes longer time to level up than a level one dino going to level 2. Yes, this is working as intended. Why would it be the same amount of time for a dino to go from 70-71 as a level 1 going to a level 2? My mind is boggled at your ignorance.

Why are you frantically gathering berries to keep it knocked out? Get a trike you can tame in a short time (HINT: LOW LEVEL TRIKE), gather tons of berries, make tons of Narcotics, there you go. Not hard. You should have to WORK to get a higher level dino, because that means you're getting boosted stats. Trikes are awesome at gathering berries. Someone told me Stegos are even better but their movement is pretty cramped.

Hell I gathered probably 200+ Narcoberries in like 10 minutes or less just running around on a Trike. We made a ton of Narcotics. And it was just ME gathering the berries. So you have no room to complain.

Prepare for the taming first before you initiate the taming. Especially for the higher level dinosaurs/bigger dinosaurs.

If the server goes down, lolalpha, suck it up and move on.

I think this is just another rant of "People with lives can't invest this much time." Type of thing. It's a game that requires a good bit of time, that is for sure, but that is also why the tribe system was put in. You ask someone to take over while you tend to your real life. Very few people just sit there for four hours, most take shifts.

The problem isn't taming time - It's the "What if the server crashes halfway through it?" problem.

WE're doing that but 4 hours for anything in a game like this is instanty.

Did you even read the words I said? It takes the SAME AMOUNT OF TIME for a level 70 dino to level up to level 71 as it does for a level 1 dino to get to level 2. This is broken as hell! That means getting a level 1 dino it will take ages to get it to 70, when you could spend the same amount of time getting a level 70 to 140.

Even if they added something simple, like a device that can track how your dino is doing whle being tamed/is tamed, you wouldn't have to sit near it so much.

Well, it's that, and the taming.
You know what, yes, I do think the time on dinos needs to be adjusted somewhat. It's not so much the time however as what we are doing to tame them.
It's freaking dull just watching and feeding it.
Now, if it was more like say, how you care for a new pet, then sure.
Feed them, pet them, give them baths. (Do dinos need baths?) All sorts of things, then yes, it would be far more interesting then feeding it berries for ages on end.

My bad, I did misread it.

My other points still stand though. You're getting a boosted dinosaur. You should have to tame it for 4 hours.

That leveling thing should be fixed though.

To bad anyone with a t-rex can come up and oneshot my trike without a problem, thus that four hours seems a lot less great time spent, right?

So people who play solo can just leave and not have fun right? People who have small families can just leave right? How about people that only with one other friend and you both lead busy lives? Oh well only those with no life outside the game get to have fun.
