Raid Times?
I think it would be AMAZING if you added servers where other players buildings can only be destroyed during certain times, like in the evening. This would fix the "problem" where you have people playing at 4 am raiding your base at night when you are defenseless. It would force more fair PVP fighting, since people would be most of the time online and ready to defend their base.

It would also allow tribes to organize raids more, and be ready to defend against others. There is NO skill involved in waiting until 3 AM to raid someone's base. Unless you add traps and building mechanics that allow builders to counter raids of people.

I just had my wood base destroyed by a trike and 6 people at 3 am(I happened to be on). Luckily I have a hidden room with 90% of my rare stuff and people never find it. I even started leaving my doors destroyed so people would just assume I had already been raided. Defense is absolutely USELESS and deception/misdirection is king. I think defenses should be strengthened so that people stand a chance of fighting a raid off even at night, as in it isn't worth the raids time because of the amount of defenses, though this is a separate issue.

I have seen many complaints from people about how it is unfair to die while offline, etc. I think the mechanic itself isn't broken, but that there is almost nothing one can do except get destroyed over and over until metal, and maybe even by that point you will just get C4'd.

Much like raids in an MMO where people have raid times, I believe a mechanic like this would be a happy compromise between permanent online persistence(the player's body), and being able to defend one's base during "Raid times".

And of course I mentioned this as a server type, since many people are probably happy with the way things are(if they are the ones doing the raiding at 4 am because they don't have jobs:)

Night raiding is not really an issue, but if you want something like this, suggest is in the workshop aye?
Lemon Drop Jun 14, 2015 @ 2:59am
How is night raiding not an issue when you have many Asians in opposite time zones who play mainly when everyone in the US is asleep?

Because me in the US can raid the asians bases when everyone in Asia is asleep

yeah this would be cool we have a chinese tribe that raids everyone at like 5AM-7AM est when the server has 30 people on it..
Pantong Jun 14, 2015 @ 3:03am
Why should we block people from doing what they enjoy in the game? Just because they play on a time zone where some people are asleep. It's kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and unfair for them. The only way to make sure the system you are suggesting is fair is to make base protection 24/7, but there is already a system like that, it's called PVE

Because PVP should be, you know, players fighting players. Not a ping pong of "we'll raid them at night, and then they'll raid us at night, and then will raid them at night".

he makes a valid point, y'know.

Lemon Drop how about official servers to play on for different time zones. Does that help with the problems you mention?

Correct me if I am wrong, but sieges normally occured when the enemy was weakest. You know, at night when they were asleep/weak from exhaustion. Why should it be any different here? If you're there to defend, then defend. If not? Well, luckily everyone is Bob the Builder in this game. Can you fix it! You sure can!

Not really. The only point of bases is to protect when people are offline.

If you make dinos/boxes invulnerable except when people are online (using any system including what OP suggested), bases are no longer necessary.

Raiding someone's base is players fighting players. Who put the base there, the dinos?

The major point to this is,Why should people lock a server down in PvE mode when it's "not peak hours", it just does not make sence to people who can't play during peak hours(i play 11pm-5am sometimes) i want to raid and get gear, i also find people who are not offline and kill them too. To me it seams like they would enjoy a PvE server if they do not want to lose their gear. I'm offline 7-11pm, when most the people are online I ALWAYS HAVE TO REBUILD.

This isn't a bad idea either and it would definitely help a lot, but you would still have problems where a few college guys could be on at odd hours during the day while other people are at work.

And men and dinosaurs never lived together(unless you are a creationist:) The point is that a designer can take inspiration from the way real things worked, but change them as needed when it is more fun to do it a different way. Also in your example, sieges lasted for DAYS. You couldn't have 1 guy with 2 metal axes break down an entire base.
I really believe it would be more fun if you had more tribes actually fighting tribes. As it stands now, the game will just be a ping pong of night raids, with occasional random skirmishes. Not to mention that the metal structure stage is so far away from level 1 that it would take a long time for anyone to reach a point where they can secure their stuff in their base.

I solved this issue by creating hidden hallways that people never find(you have to destroy a wall to get to it). But 99.99% of people don't do this. The wood stage is such a long lasting stage that there needs to be better ways to "defend" yourself while offline. More options for deception, for example. More types of trap doors, trap walls, hidden compartments, etc.

And you have just accepted this as the way things are. Are you not open to the possibility that there might be some changes to the way things currently work that would produce more fun? But other people don't have fun rebuilding every night BUT still want PvP. So what are the options available for these people? I love PvP, but hate getting raided when I can't defend because I have a job, and countless others have the same issue.

You could have a claim system like other games, and things within that claim radius are safe while offline and while it is not during raid hours.

i find it fun that when i log on i could of lost everything i had, it's the way the game works, but getting back up to wooden takes hardly any time at all. so even if i lost metal it's only a slight set back.

Again, adding raid hours would mean id never be able to raid. So i do not want this change
