There is a bindable key in your options menu which hides / shows the on-screen HUD.
By default it is "Backspace". Try pressing that :)

Hah! So he did, by Jove. My bad.
The reason I jumped to that conclusion is because I've had 2-3 people on my server report the same thing - and backspace fixed it.

No idea what it could be in that case but im glad a relog worked.

Yeah, I was about to do the same thing, then I caught it. No idea what the issue is. But it was fixed from a restart. So there's that.

good job vantus your solution worked. I thought that it could be this but then again, all my XP witht this game and its bugs made me fear the worst right away

Had the same problem a few times, always have to restart to fix it. So annoying, can't believe it's still happening (browsing similar discussions now as I restart as it's doing it to me again presently).

Still happening? This is an old thread. It's backspace for HUD - as it was back in June.

And as it was back in June, backspace did not turn the hud back on for these people. Like it says in my original post backspace just toggles dino names but the important parts of your hud are still missing. Relogging is still the only way to fix it. But thanks for helping and knowing all the facts because informed contributions are great.

just to clarify, if backspace doesn't get your hotbar back, try resetting your settings then restarting the game. Ignore the peasants.

Note developer comment about backspace about same time as this was raised in a different thread - back in June.

I have not stopped playing and have not seen this issue SINCE then so an assumption was made that the user missed the "backspace" hotkey because he made NO mention of it.

Note my comment LATER that it must therefore be an issue because 2 people had raised dead threads same day for same issue. The second user said he did try the backspace. This came AFTER this thread so I changed my initial assumption.

In keeping with the thread, this "peasant" would like to inform others that this bug has been recently reported as late as 5th April this year. In BUG reports. Type HUD in search.

ED: In fact I'll go one further. Here it is. I can only "assume" that it's the same error and may have resurfaced with 238.6 given the number of people reporting it recently.

Yes, obviously this is an old thread... which is why I said it was still happening.

OP mentioned it was not backspace, and I said I had the same problem; I assumed that would imply that I had tried backspace as well. My bad, I forgot where I was for a moment. Backspace is not the problem - as it wasn't for the OP back in June.

And yes, a developer comment back in June on another thread mentioned backspace, but that was almost a year ago when it was first reported, and that original post gave zero information for him to go on. Note that the developer did not enter any discussions where backspace was previously mentioned and suggest it be tried again.

For further information everything works perfectly fine 99% of the time. Every once in a while though my hot bar and icons along the right side of the screen will inexplicably vanish -- yesterday it happened while I was harvesting rocks on a Dodic, and a few days prior it happened while I was flying around on an Argent looking for dire wolves.

Note that when the HUD is askew, pressing backspace still properly toggles the dino names/levels and mate/egg/trough icons. The hot bar and the health/food/stamina/etc icons on the right do not return until restarting the client, in which case everything returns to normal.

I just had this happen to me. And no, backspace did not correct the problem. I finally had to log out.

I will tack on that it is still happening as well; what the options lists as HUD is simply the names above things... not the UI (boxes along the bottom, stats along the side.) Those disappear sometimes and there's not yet an obvious way to being them back.
