Thanks :) Good thing my place is most often surrounded by brontos, just need to find enough low level one to tame, have so limited time in my hands for this game...
A bronto is good to farm berries if you have a large, tree free area. With one swing it will collect about ~1500 berries overall (mind you, before the nerf it was 500-1500 of every berry type). So just counting the area, and not the time, every other berry collector will get more berries than the bronto. A bronto moves and turns very slow, you have to consider this, and it keeps hanging in trees, if they are too close he does not destroy or trample them.
A stego will gather more berries on a large, free area, and a mammoth will gather more berries (and also wood) in a tree growing area. I would not recommend taming a bronto for berry farming right now, rather a mammoth which almost takes as long to tame as a bronto and is significantly faster.
I tamed a Bronto last night I put all berries in she ate Mejo before all other berries. Just FYI
Some have also said that increased melee damage on a saber will get you more chitin more frequently.
Idk for sure on either of these but I'd love to see some testing or some such :D
Yes the current theory craft on the server I am on is the more melee damg = more resources per swing.
So say a tree spawns and it would give 10 wood with stone hatchet, 15 wood with metal hatchet, and like 20 wood with a mamoth that has pumped up melee damg. Clearly these numbers are just thrown out there as the hard part about testing this theory is that since trees give random amounts its hard to know if tree X gave me more wood cause it just RNG more wood or if it was the melee damg.
Thanks this was really helpful
Keep in mind the data/information is 6+ years old now and since that time, there have been other creatures introduced that you may consider more effective along with the fact that stats for dinos were dramatically changed months after this thread existed too. Also trikes different dinos like the trike and more from that time have had changes in their utility etc.
This is why in general its better to use the wiki for such information or asking in your own more current thread for current responses as opposed to necro-ing.
