All the dinos need some time adjustments, even if only slightly.
I started out with a level 9, so it took a bit longer than 30 minutes I guess. It would be great if the devs could balance things out so I don't get dinos with really crappy stats.
What would you recommend?
Initial efficiency is affected by initial health at time of taming, more damaged means less efficiency. Hitting it (damaging it in any way) drastically drops efficiency, too. Punching it to keep it out was the main problem.
I had a turtle start at 80%, and I cut down a tree it was stuck on.. even though I never got feedback that I hit it, apparently I did and it lost 1/2 it's health in the process, and efficiency dropped to 25%. Pro-tip, don't cut down trees until AFTER the tame is complete.. :/
Pro-tip noted. I saw that thread too, but it seems like people are really confused as to which foods certain dinos like. Don't the devs have this information posted somewhere? Hasn't this game been online long enough that people would reach a consensus on what dinos like best?
Thanks for the info. Do the narcotics effect the taming efficiency?
Not as bad as force feeding 5-10 Narcoberries every couple of mins.
Weak Dinos 10-15 minutes example: Dilophosaurus Phiomia
Normal Dino 20-30 minutes example: triceratops Carbonemys
Strong Dino 30-40 minutes
Mega Dino 40-50 minutes
And of course the higher its level the harder to tame
efficiency always goes down. It goes down each time the dino you are taming eats something.
To get the maximum efficiency you need to feed the dino the food it prefers.
To put this into perspective (re the original post) a level 1 Carbonemys takes 47 minutes to tame on berries (such as done by the original poster).. it has to eat 105 berries, and each time it eats a berry the efficiency goes down and this is the most inefficient way to tame it... using its favorite food (ptera kibble), it only eats 8 kibble and is tamed in less than 10 minutes.
It is really best to only use kibble (whenever possible).. and taming Carbonemys early game is a real noob thing...
lastly... balancing out... as this is a multiply player game things have to be a challenge.. some servers allow quick taming but on the official servers you have times such as 14 hours (inefficiently): 2:30 hours (efficiently) taming some of the higher lvl dinos... if that is too much then.. as stated... there are other servers.
