Farming Fiber
Most materials have ways of obtaining more: better tools, dinos, etc. Is there something for fiber (or even crops) and I'm just missing it? Stegs just farm up berries and skip the fiber. Or do I just get to go pick a ton of fiber by hand and be miserable?

Really need to see about getting game mechanic stuff like this in the Wiki...

Fiber, stand over tall brush and hold E. It doesn't take long if you make sure to spam E every time you run through the woods if even just to cut a tree down. We spam E all the time and get plenty :P

Yeah which probably means I need to get off my dino more often and just do that. Would be nice to have some progression on that resource though.

I found that new players are swimming in fiber to the point they start throwing it out. They're also desperate for the most basic stuff that more established players have. So what we have done is set up trades, for example we had about 5 spare scorpions, we traded one of them for 5000 fiber.

This obviously is harder to do on massive pvp servers where you probably don't want to draw attention to yourself but even if you're just roaming around on foot and directly talking to people through the mic you can probably arrange trades for fiber pretty easily. I know when I was first playing I tossed out thousands of fiber because it was annoyingly clogging inventories not quite realizing how much we'd need it later.

i was actually thinking of this. What if they implemented a sythe tool to the iron tier that when used on bushes instead of getting any berries JUST gets fiber at a bit of an increased rate than just spamming e on bushes like every bush gets you like 20 or so fiber.
TokeyMcBongRip Jun 24, 2015 @ 3:24pm
i think they need to add either a machete or scythe tool that will cut down bushes faster and just collect fiber. or make the parasaur collect fiber being the parasaur is a crappy berry collector, would give the parasaur some use

It might be nice if there was a tool like a scythe or something for getting slightly more fiber (at the expense of fewer/no berries) from shrubs.

We thought that too at first but eventually you need tons of it for advanced saddles, construction, and other stuff - and/or you start using dinos to get berries and you get no fiber that way.

Tame a bronto without using a dino to farm for berries. You'll see what happens.

yeah fiber to start with is litterally so ubundant you think its useless... it gets really scarce at higher levels. and monotonous to pick
Blaank Jul 1, 2015 @ 11:06am
Yeah, I realized that low level guys on foot have tons of it and high level guys riding Trexes never have any. So I started trading fiber for stuff with established tribes. Great way for new guys to get by.

Brontos arent practical, I dont see the hype- they have a large farm hit boc but oter than that they act as a pick when harvesting they get thatch and have not seen fiber from any dino. Maybe at certain levels of atk dmg . A confirm would be nice if oroven otherwise because im tired of hand oicking fiber at L64
